Question about Samsung RS2534 Side by Side Refrigerator

Ice/water flows in the freezer compartment RS2534sw

My freezer has developed an ice flow on the inside of the defrostless freezer. When I defrosted and cleaned out the freezer to see what was happening water continued to intermitantly run into the freezer and puddle out on the bottom and then freeze the bottom basket to the floor of the freezer. Where do I start to look? Can I fix this? Does it require a new ice maker or some other repair? The water is currently turned off to the freezer. What should be my next step? Thanks, Deb : )

I have a Samsung RS2533SW side by side refrigerator--the Icemaker is full of ice and the water keeps flowing into the freezer. I purchased it at Best Buy but it is now out of warranty.

It looks to me like the back support for the ice maker may have broken. This observation is supported by my web search which located a service bulletin about broken supports: ServiceTechHelp.com has the service bulletin but you have to be a member to see it: "SERVICE BULLETIN PRODUCT: Refrigerator BULLETIN NUMBER: ASC20041012002 BULLETIN DATE: 10/12/2004 MODELS: RS2533, RS2544 RS2555, RS2577 Chassis ATOP Model, SUBJECT: Icemaker support change SYMPTOM: Icemaker support is broken"

I turned the ice maker off on the front panel and the water has stop flowing.

Right now there is a big chunk of ice in the Icemaker and I don't know how to remove it.

    Any ideas.

Where do I find the ice maker inlet water valve or solenoid? The valve on the back of my fridge has only one hose going to both the water dispenser and ice maker and the water dispenser works fine.

Since there is water that flows to the water dispenser, the water valve is working. Now, there's a spout that water flows from to the icemaker tray. Look for it. It's located on the back wall inside the freezer and maybe behind the icemaker tray. Check and see if it's frozen. If so, defrost your freezer by turning the temperature gauge to off position. Wait a while until it's defrosted, then turn it back on.
Next, make sure that the metal wire is in down position.

If that doesn't work, your icemaker maybe defective and needs replacement.

New Frig..just l yr old. Water droplets on floor below bottom pull out freezer compartment. Discovered a layer of ice built up inside below the racks. Can't find anything in the manual to indicate...

Your drain is plugged. When in defrost mode the heater comes on in freezer and melts the frost on coils. Sometimes the frost falls off in a chunk and covers the drain. The heater can only be on for so long until the bi-metal/ defrost thermostat shuts it down. Once the defrost cycle ends the frost turns to ice and builds from there. Your heater is melting the frost and the water has no place to go so it goes under the racks.

To fix remove contents off freezer and remove racks. Remove the back panel 4 screws and you will see your drain plug under the coils. Remove any ice you can see blocking the plug. Now pour hot water into drain until it flows into drip pan under freezer. You can remove back access panel behind fridge at bottom. Once water flows freely though than replace the access panels.

If you leave fridge plugged in while doing this be careful.

Model et18pkxfno1 serial eg4024334 type c18tfa97\r\nwater drips into refrigerator compartment somewhere from freezer (inside). Occurs daily. Tried to adjust temp in both refrigerator and freezer but...

The problem is that your fridge's drain line (which is located in the freezer) is iced over. So water can't drain out of the freezer when your fridge enters it's defrost cycle. The freezer and drain line needs to be defrosted by hand. Or you can unplug the fridge and open the doors for a 2-3 hours. Eventully, if no action is taken, the ice build up in the freezer will block the cold air flow to the refrigerator compartment .

Mattag PSB 2151 Side by Side Fridge/Freezer. Water is dripping out at front corner under freezer side everyday. Defrost Thermostat?

Most likely plugged up defrost drain hole. Do you see any frozen water (ice) in bottom of freezer? If so then remove lower back wall of freezer compartment and use a turkey baster with some hot water to "plunge" the defrost drain tube till the water starts to flow. Clean up excess ice and away you go!!
Good luck!

Water pools and freezes at bottom of the freezer. When tray is full water leaks out of freezer onto kitchen floor.

I am uncertain as to what you mean by "when tray is full"? However, you probably have a clogged drain in the freezer compartment. During the defrost cycle, which usually occurs every eight hours, defrost components (defrost thermostat & heater(s) ) melt the ice that has accumulated on the evaporator coil in the freezer compartment. The water from the melted ice drains through a hole in the freezer compartment (behind the freezer's rear panel) and accumulates in a drain pan below the refrigerator. This water should evaporate over time, whereby you should not have to regularly empty the drain pan. If the drain hole is clogged (usually from algae or other debris, etc.), the water finds another path to flow (which is inside the bottom of your freezer compartment). This water will usually freeze. Water will then flow toward the front of your freezer compartment and out of the door on to the floor when you open the door.

Contact an appliance service company to unclog your freezer drain. Also have them check your defrost components (thermostat & heater(s)).

Frost free freezer forming layer of clear ice on floor of freezer

This sounds like clogged drain / hose in the freezer compartment, here's why:

When the defrost circuit turns on, the compressor turns off. The defrost coil melts frost that collects on the freezer coil and drips in to a small pan located below the coil. The pan is formed so that the water that drips in it can flow to a hose connected under it. When the defrost cycle completes. the compressor runs again, bringing the temperature in the freezer to about 0 again. Any water remaining anywhere in the freezer will turn to ice very quickly.

If the hose should become clogged with ice, or slowed by mold, bacteria, etc. - water flow will be slowed, and / or eventually stopped. Ice will become thicker and thicker on the floor of the freezer as there is no place for the water to go.

A service manual for the appliance would be a good idea, but may not be required. You'll need to unplug the freezer and empty the contents. Defrost manually with a hair dryer or other heat source. If you decide to chip away ice, do so carefully.

The defrost and drain area of most refrigerator / freezers are located behind the rear panel of the freezer compartment. This is where the manual would indicate where the parts are located. Remove any ice maker installed if needed to remove the back panel.

Defrost any ice previously hidden by the panel. Chipping ice here should be a last resort, as sharp edges can damage cooling coils, tubing and the drip pan itself. Use a turkey baster filled with hot water to direct a stream at the area of the pan filled with ice. Hot water will likely have to be directed down the opening on the pan to melt ice in the hose as well.

Once the ice is cleared, mix about a 10% to 20% solution of bleach and water (1/2 ounce bleach to 3 ounces water) and direct down the drain hose. This will kill and inhibit further growth of mold and bacteria in the hose, which should help it drain water quickly.

Re-assemble and plug into power.

I hope you found this Very Helpful. If you need more help, ask again - but include the freezer manufacturer's name and model number. Good luck!

Water leaking in the freezer compartment. Water running out of the bottom of the freezer. Does not leak all the time. Turned the ice maker off. Still have water on the floor. This is a Maytag wide by side,...

Are you sure the water is from the water line?

Usually, water inside a refrigerator is defrost water that is not flowing in the direction it is supposed to be going. The defrost water flows into a catch basin behind the inner lining of the refrigerator. From there it goes into a plastic tube which carries it underneath the unit to a pan. The heat from the coils and compressor then evaporate it.

On most refrigerators you can see this tube at the rear. It should exit the unit somewhere and run downward. See if you can detach this tube and make sure it is not blocked. Another possibility is that the catch basin inside the refrigerator is clogged. Checking this would not be easy. The inner lining of the refrigerator would have to be removed. I have seen these basins filled with debris and ice. This can shut of the flow of the defrost water completely. The water has to go somewhere, and it flows inside the refrigerator.

Ice at the bottom of freezer ice at the bottom of freezer, defrost water not draining

If the tube or channel is clogged or obstructed, the water backs up and leaks into the inside of the refrigerator compartment. Then the water builds up at the bottom, inside of the refrigerator. When the water has built up for a time it may spill out of the front of the door opening. To fix this problem, clear the drain tube or channel and allow the defrost water to flow down to the drain pan.

The ice and water-dispensing system of your refrigerator is quite complex. Many components work together to provide the ice and water. Aside from a simple problem of a leaky water tube or a jammed ice chute, most other components are not user serviceable. We suggest that you contact a qualified appliance repair technician for such repairs.

Ice build up in freezer compartment until water flows onto floor.

Hi, Is this a wwhirlpool brand fridge?
The drain is plugged in the freezer section. If I could get model #,I can get you ezact instructions.
If the floor panel in the freezer has screws holding it in, remove the fllor panel. Now you will need to remove the rear panel inside the freezer as well.
If this is a Whirlpool brand, there is an after market drain heat strip that you will need to add to the defrost heater.
Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks
Vic

Water leakage under freezer door-ice on bottom of inside of freezer

sounds like a drain clog in the freezer compartment above. remove the freezer rear panel and totally defrost the evaporator area, directly under the evap you see( under all taht ice) a small drain hole that has become frozen over, try defrosting with either a hair dryer( not a heat gun too much heat youl melt everything) or by pouring hot water donw the drain until you get a free flow of water down the tube. after its clear reassemble and you should be fine
