Acertravelmate 2420 overheating

Hi
I have Acer travelmate 2428. The problem i am having might be similiar to the one discussed before i.e. overheating. In the months from Jan to April,(Quebec, Canada) i noticed that the area around the fan often got hot. However, it was only in summer months that my laptop suddenly started switching off espiecally during the hot humid days.

I found that whenever i had directed my motor-powered fan onto the laptop, the problem seemed to cease.

No doubt the problem is overheating but is there a solution to it? should i get a cooling pad or sth similiar? I am not sure if i could carry a motor-fan with me all the time. :) please let me know
