Hey dlowe0700,

While AOL does offer broadband services, they may not necessarily be available in all areas. For the most up-to-date coverage information, I would strongly suggest giving AOL a call at their toll-free hotline (800-973-1802) or visiting their broadband service website using the link I've provided below.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

When trying to use Outlook Express 6, I get an "Error Message " stating "an error occured while establishing the dail up network connection AOL Dailer"

If you are using DialUp Internet Service from AOL, try establishing a connection first and the open Outlook Express.

If you have broadband (cable/dsl) internet service from another company, then your computer is incorrectly setup. In this case, open Control Panel, Internet Options, then click on the connections tab and delete all and any listed dialup connections or simply select the "Never dial a connection" option right under the dialup connections list box.

Also, if you are not using the AOL software, I'd recommend that you uninstall it completely to free lots of resources and speed up your computer as a result. For this, go into the Control Panel, add/remove programs and remove all AOL applications from the list.

Good luck!

Tip

Increase Broadband Speed.

Using Windows XP operating system. About 20% of total Bandwidth is reserved for programs. So if are able to extract then we can speed up the broadband connection. In this hack you will learn how to Do this..

  • Click on Start go to Run.
  • Type gpedit.msc & then press enter .
  • A window like the below one would be opened...
  • Now navigate to { Local Computer Policy\Administrative Templates\Network\QOS Packet Scheduler }
  • Under QOS Packet Scheduler, double click on Limit reservable bandwidth.
  • Change the 'Not Configured mode' to 'Enabled' & change the Bandwidth limit (%) to '0'.
  • After that apply the settings.
  • Then reboot your PC.
So speed up your connection now......
Good luck!

How to transport aol favorites to gmail

I presume that you mean contacts export from AOL, to Gmail, correct?

I am not on AOL any longer, so I cannot find out if they have an export function.

Gmail, however does have an IMPORT function.

Log in to your gmail account.
>>Top right, several to the left select settings
>> 2nd tab, accounts and imports..
What you need is the first option...

Also are you planning to use the online mailbox of Gmail, or a local client, like Outlook, Windows Mail, or Incredimail>>>>? If so you must turn on POP access, or you will not be able to connect... This is the 5th tab of the page you were last on (listed above, in settings).

Lastly if you are using a local client, often you cannot use the GMAIL outgoing mail server. Because of spam, internet service providers commonly require all mail going out to go through THEIR server....

Not a problem, if you use inline mailbox of gmail. because you are sending from there....

I have a modem with a wireless card that AOL Broadband provided. It is a Comtrend CT-534 and works great when connected to my desktop. But when I try to use the wireless card to connect to my laptop I get...

If you are getting a connected and excellent signal for your wireless connection then you need to double check the IP address. If you are not connecting to your Internet Service Providers Web server then this would block you from being able to connect to the web. While you are connected to your wireless card click on start>run>type in "cmd". This will bring you to the DOS prompt. Type in c:\ to get to the root directory. Then type in "ipconfig /release, then type in ipconif /renew. This will reconnect your network to your ISP's web server. If this does not work then the problem is at the ISPs end and there is nothing you can do to correct it immediately. You need to call your Internet Service Provider and explain your problem to them. What is happening is that your router DHCP protocol is not providing you with a proper IP address and they can only fix it on their end if the ipconfig does not fix it.

Don't forget to rate this solution with 4 stars.

Can't locate a Modem connection

Ok, First off, Yes, if you have a plug in the back of your computer that allows a standard phone connection wire from computer to the wall, that usually means you have a modem. If you have the ability to get Broadband internet, my suggestion is to get that instead. Its more reliable and doesnt have an automatic disconnect feature that AOL has always had. Also, if you already have broadband, then you can connect with AOL directly through the broadband connection and skip the Modem use entirely. Best i can tell you, other than if your computer is not finding the modem, that means its been either disabled or is missing the drivers.

After aol main computer went down they told me to reoncifugre the router i dont know how to do this and as i dont have a home fone line i cnt ring them any help please?

First thing to do is try to connect to the Internet without AOL then sign on to AOL using the broadband connection. When Internet Explorer is open, even without a connection, go to Tools>Internet Options>Connections and check the 'Never Dial a Connection', Click on Advanced and check the 'Automatically Detect Settings' check box. If you are not connecting to the Internet then turn off or unplug the power to the modem, turn it back on and wait 2 minutes. If you don't connect then do the same with the router power. If you still haven't connected using just Internet Explorer, NOT AOL, then talk to your router directly:) Do this by Start>Run>type http://192.168.1.1 (Linksys) or http://192.168.10.1 (Motorola). A logon screen appears. User Name is the manufacturer's name and 'admin' is the password. A web page or dashboard will appear. For a cable modem select DHCP. For DSL select PPPoE. Static addresses can also be entered if you know what they are but probably not. When you see ip addresses listed open Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Chrome or whatever browser flavor you like EXCEPT AOL. Once connected to the Internet then go to AOL. More specifics on your broadband service and hardware makes will get you more specific help if you need. Happy surfing!

AOL broadband connection

The answer is very simple ... Uninstall the AOL browser, you do not need it to connect to the internet, AOL's browser, as I have discovered chokes your bandwidth and slows down your PC. I would strongly recommend using something like Firefox (you can add the AOL toolbar if needed). I removed AOL's browser over a year ago and have not had a single problem, bespite the fact that AOL insist I must have it installed on my PC ... Absolute rubbish.

Have belkin wireless/modem router, was using aol but now with the utility warehouse using there uwclub.net service. They sent a thompson speedtouch fixed line modem which we had to connect to get on i.e.,...

Try using a dynamic ip address. I think you only use the static if having problems. Just read this.

A dynamic IP address is assigned to a customer’s modem or router, generally via a remote server (such as our own UWClub server). This provides the user with an IP address from an available pool of addresses every time a connection is made. This is the most common type of IP address for our broadband/Broadcall customers.

Thats off The Utility Warehouse page.

the firs hing to do here is goto your Temp folder and delete all files then if you are using ie6 then upgrade to ie7 as AOL is more happy with IE7 run AOL to log in to their server thn minimize AOL explorer then run internet explorer this should bupass their security measures that block you brouwse other sites.

happy webbing.
