first you need to re install the driver, do this and try again, if not solved you need to fix the registry, but this can harm your computer, download tune up utilities and ccleaner, those programs can help you
Does the player play Audio disks? if so then it could be a software issue. It sounds more like the CD laser has died on your unit. The CD/DVD unit has two lasers, one for the CD side of things and another for the DVD. If still under warranty get replacement. Hope this helps. don
If you can't restored the driver, you should reload the operating system using Alt+F10 or using disks (not from windows, boot from disks)
In your case, it's look like you can't access the dvd in windows, i hope you can access in dos mode.
