you need to remove the rear panel inside the freezer section, inside there will be the evaporator coil/core,below this is a drip pan/drain and they get frozen over, shut off the unit and put a bunch of towels there to catch water as it thaws, then use hot water to hasten thaw, then run a piece of wire down the drain hole, you will need to remove rear lower cover to see when wire comes out there, then after you get it starting to drain, clean out drain tube with hot water and vinegar

I have an Amana Side by Side. The freezer section

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air
check defrost heater, defrost thermostat. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the adaptive defrost control.Part 13 on this diagram of your fridge controls. http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getSubComp.pd?modelNumber=ASD2625KES&productCategoryId=0165000&brandId=1268&modelName=AMANA-REFRIGERATOR&diagramPageId=00005&componentDescription=CONTROLS&documentId=M0612301&backToLink=Return%20to%20Sub%20Components%20list

Is the evaporator fan in the freezer running.

Below the evaporator fan is the evaporator coils. Remove the back cover in the freezer to observe the frost pattern. Light frost everywhere(NORMAL) or a partial pattern of ice(LOW ON FREON) or nothing(LOW FREON OR COMPRESSOR PROBLEM).

We have an Amana side by side that is only cold on the bottom in both the freezer and fridge. Also the top shelf of the fridge is hot from the light, which does not seem to go off when the door is shut....

amana runs power to the fan thru the defrost sensor that is mounted on the evaporator coil. these sensors will get moisture inside of them and short out causing intermittent fan operation. replace then sensor and your frig will return to normal. thanks for using FixYa peyton

Amana refrigerator only not working

Few questions first. 1.  What is the entire model # on the sticker inside the fridge section?  2.  Is the fan in the freezer running?  3.  Is there a thick frost build up on the back panel in the freezer (look at the bottom half for a side by side)?
