Question about Sony KP-53S35 53" Rear Projection Television
Red light for timer/standby keeps blinking when I turn on tv (nonstop) and won't turn on. There is sound. Just started doing this yesterday - the day before there was one time that it took a while to turn on. I think my husband said it went green on the screen too. Any suggestions? Is it time for new one or can this be fixed?
If you have this sort of problem with the Sony (maybe others) where one color is dominant just before it quits you might be able to fix this quite easily. What I did on my 57" Sony was to remove the speaker panel (two screws hidden by round plastic covers). Next I removed the four screws holding the wood panel behind the speakers. Behind that panel is a black box with three dials labeled red, green, blue. Whichever color was showing up is the one you'll want to adjust. BE VERY CAREFUL HERE! Do not do this with the TV plugged in and only turn dial (phillips head) at most 1/8 inch counter clockwise. Once you've done this, plug the TV in and turn it on. If it worked, put it back together and watch the tube! If the problem appears to have gotten worse or only slightly better, you'll need to play with it a little. Remember: only very slight turns. If you turn it too much you may very well blow something and then you'll have a very large door stop!
Good Luck and God Bless

Good day, cjnewcarguy;
If you like new cars you may enjoy a new LCD Flat Panel TV. Try unplugging the TV for about 2-3 minutes, plug back in. Working... no?? The average repair cost of projection TV is about $400.00 to $550.00.
Good luck, big IRISH.

Five blinks - AKB
circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks
for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function.
Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761

the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning
up screen A2 slightly.
