Have to be resoldered . you will need a very high temp soldering gun to remove these ..this solder is not like the old lead solder that unsolders easy also make sure they have same rating as original or higher voltage and also make sure polarity is correct when replaced..goodluck

My samsung plasma tv powers on has sound and a picture, but is snowy, and coloring is slightly off. I have opened the tv to check for bulging caps and have found no obvious culprits. what next?

Snowy pics are not the symptom of bulging caps.
you must mention what type of source produces 'snowy' pics.
have you tried with other sources and ports ?

I recommend, you test out the following.
- DVD with Component connection
- HDR or STB with HDMI
- TV/Antenna

HI HAVE A TV WONT TURN ON SHARP MODEL LC32D40U

Check cspacitors on power suppky board for bulging on top. The caps are the little barrel looking things. If the crossed tops are bulged up in the slightest or blown compketely, they heed to ge repkaced. Desolder and pull out, buy new matching ones snd solder in. Not as hard as it sounds, observe polarity of csps when you pull them, match stripe to outline on pcb.

Hi Sir Saeid Manzari,

Right, that problem is cause of faulty power supply..

The first thing I suggest is to open the back cover of your TV then find the power supply board (it is usually found connected directly to the power cord)..After you find the power supply kindly inspect the condition of all capacitors, commonly then faulty capacitors look like leak/bulged on the top but sometimes not and looks fine..

see this picture.
1_28_2012_11_22_23_am.png

If you found any bulged capacitors kindly replace it only with the same value (microfarad/voltage) example 2200uf/35v means 2200 microfarad/35 volts..

If you don't see any bulged caps let me know to proceed other test to determine if the true problem is on the power supply or other board inside..

If that so please ready your multimeter tester for voltage checking..

Hope we find the real problem and fix it..

Just keep on touch!!!!

Thanks for using fixya and choosing my service!!!!

Regards,
Chester Pendilton

HiThe problem is faulty power supply, because of leak capacitor that's why the output voltage is cut off. The leak capacitor can identify through visual checking, the leak capacitor have bulging tops.Just remove the cover and find the power supply located at the upper right and you can see the bulging tops capacitor.Replace with the same value of capacitor.

Many tvs are having problems with the capaicitors on the power supply. I would remove the back of the set, locate the power supply, and look at the top of the capacitors "barrels", if the top is bulging up slightly, they are bad. Usually 6 of them in the same group with an X on the top.

A slight topple, then ON power, just heard clicking sound. Remove back cover, can see spark in middle portion of TUBE. The copper coiling section. How to fix my problem.. Thank you very much.

In the power supply section, see the capacitors? The "barrells" usually black, grey, or blue. Look at the top of them, if they are bulging up, they are bad. Replace all of them in that section. (6)??

My Samsung LNS4051 has sound but no picture. I replaced 2 bulging capacitors (CM807 and 808), and it worked for less than 1 day. The other 4 caps frequently mentioned on this site appear to be good, but...

When you replace obviously bad capacitors (bulging, leaking), make sure you also replace any adjacent similar capacitors even if they look ok because they are almost certainly bad too.

If you find 2 bulging ones in a group of 6, don't skimp, just replace all 6 while you have it open.

Good luck and please post back with how you make out.

The bad capacitors in this set are usually NOT on the power supply--they are on the other (logic) board. You will find several bulging capacitors there. Replace em all....
