Question about Microwave Ovens

1 Answer

JVM1341BW002 I had to move and thus, need to re-install an over the range microwave (JVM1341BW002), I saved everything but was wondering if it would be okay to re-use the mounting plate. It's not in perfect condition since I had to unscrew from wall, I can get new screws but don't know if I should also get a new mounting plate. Thanks

This is kind of a judgment call, but if you want, feel free to send me a few photos of it and I'll be glad to give you my opinion.

It should be fine as long as it's not seriously damaged.

Samsung Microwave for over the range vent issue

Most over the range models can be vented to the outside, or they can be set up (sometimes requiring a special adapter) to recirculate with a charcoal filter.

It depends on the model, and you would of course have to consult the installation instructions to be sure.

You can download many Samsung over the range microwave installation instructions here.

You may need the free DJVU viewer to view or print your manual.

How to remove inside door trim to replace handle on G.E. space maker mod#JVM1341BW002

Very carefully. You will need one to two flat head screwdrivers. There is a piece in the inner door that covers the screw holes. It snaps in. Once it is removed you should be able to see the screws to the back side of the handle. Just be careful removing inner trim because they are prone to break.

Everything works ok except strange hum and no heat

When the microwave sounds okay, but there's no heat, one of the internal door switches, the high voltage circuitry, or the circuit board may have a problem. To resolve this problem, you need the assistance of a qualified appliance repair technician.
If it is under warranty you are golden. If not, you should get an estimate, as many new microwaves are now in the 50 dollar to 99 dollar range

Magic Chef Over the Range, MicroOven, model MCO153UBF

I tried the usual things, then checked the outlet in the cupboard where the unit is plugged in.....It was okay, but then I noticed a separate electrical cable going into the wall at the outlet. I went to the breaker box downstairs, found a breaker marked "Microwave Oven", flicked it off and on and away the microwave oven went....It is now okay. I guess the thermostat had turned everything off when it became too hot....
anyway all okay now....thx Janet

Above range microwave

According to the installation instructions for this model, the distance from the cooktop surface to the bottom edge of the cabinet (and thus the top of the microwave) must be 30" or more.

Owner's manuals and installation instructions can be downloaded here: http://www.geappliances.com/service_and_support/literature/
