Hey ArtWest,

One of the most common reasons why this might occur is if your computer is overheating due to poor circulation or blocked ventilation. As such, I'd first suggest giving the computer a thorough cleaning using an air duster, and making sure that the external vents are not plugged. If there's any kind of obstruction blocking these vents, the internal temperature of your computer can rise to the point that it must shut itself down to prevent any kind of damage. Remember to always hold these dusters at least six to eight inches away from the surface(s) being cleaned, as they have been known to leave liquid residues behind or freeze surfaces when held too close.

Additionally, overheating may be caused by the failure of an active heat sink (fan). If you feel confident in opening your computer's case, you may wish to verify that all of the fans are working correctly when the computer is in operation. Many computers will have at least two internal fans: one to cool the CPU, and one to cool the case itself. Some models may have several extra fans to cool the video card or to help improve circulation.

Assuming that cleaning the computer does not resolve the problem and all of your internal fans are still operational, you could potentially be looking at a more serious problem: a possible defective processor or motherboard.

Remember though that any repairs not performed by a factory-authorized technician may void your warranty coverage, so make sure to contact Acer first if your warranty is still in effect.

Hope this helps you out.

Turns off after 5 beeps

It is either CPU or Motherboard failure or your keyboard controller failure. Keyboard plugs directly into your motherboard or through a USB port. Try a different keyboard first and if that doesn't work then it may be time to look into getting a new computer. it will drive you crazy trying to diagnose the problem. Good luck ........

Computer freezes with a coloured screen or turns itself off

Sorry it took forever for me to get back to you; the solution may be anything from an OS reinstallation to dusting the interior gently or simple lowering of the graphics card clock rate (in detailed settings for it.) It sounds like a fan might be ready to replace; you get to look and see whether it is the one on the graphics card, chipset, or the CPU. If the fan is caught going under the speed given in the BIOS/UEFI the machine'll shut itself down.
If this is ongoing, drop a little more detail here. I can't but get back quicker.

Several times a day my computer turns itself off then immediately back on. From best I can tell from the data messages, it has lost power. This doesn't seem like a power supply issue, is it heat?

Read your event logs, under system events. The event viewer is located in control panel, under administrative tools.
If it is heat that is causing the issue, replace the unit. My thought is power supply, as heat would need to disparate before the unit would restart, typically.
Pull and reseat your ram chip(s) and reseat all cables.

After power on my Acer Veriton 6800 only beeps continously. No VGA Signal, no interaction possible. Motherboard is original, no modifications made. Intrusion sensor is jumpered. Can anybody help?

Either the power supply has failed, or the motherboard. Or possibly the CPU was overheated and burned itself out from cooling fan failure. Smaller possiblity is memory went bad. You should first check the memory, by removing it, blow out the sockets with can of air, then replace one at a time. Try to start PC after 1st one. then remove it and try the other one. Any change evident?
Look at the capacitors and other components on the MB , any sign of swelling, bursting or burning?A new MB will run about $100.

With out being there, it's hard to tell what is wrong.

My Presario 8000T power on then off

Hi there. Seems you already have a clue on what you are doing (good job). Try to test the system with another RAM stick. It may be a bad RAM, bad CPU or most likely, bad motherboard. But, before you change the motherboard itself, do the RAM test. It is the best shot. There is a device that you plug to the PCI port of *********** board but by the time you pay for it you are better off testing the RAM first. Good luck (please, if this helped, leave a comment).

My acer aspire cooling fan is not working properly so it turns off unexpectedly several times a day.

if the cooling works well the fan gonna shutdown automatic. nothing to worry about, but if it does when the computer is still hot then you need to replace the fan.

when it shutsdown, does it later start by it self?

Hi Just checking first of all you have tried another memory module. This sounds like a faulty RAM. Please try and get back to me if that doesn't fix it. Thanks, Lolita
