Looks like a common problem, try getting Makita to replace the gearbox as it would appear to be a common fault.
Have a look at the faulty part with this link. (can't buy this bit, whole gearbox $40 in USA or in the UK £50-60).

Have the same problem with my Makita BHP 451. Took apart the gear box and only part that looks like it could fail is a plastic sleeve which slides back and forth and engages the various gear clusters. I guess if this gets sloppy it might not fully engage the high speed cluster which may cause drill to slip. Just a guess though. From parts lists looks like you have to replace the entire gear box.

The speed selector switch on my8391D slips forward when in position 2, and the chuck won't turn. Is it the switch or something more serious,

Most probably it's the problem in the switch. Try to hold it by hand and use the drill, if drill operates properly, issue is in the switch itself. Order a new one and replace it - it's simple operation. Or ask for help in service center.

Makita gn900 nail gun wont fire on half full gas cell

Hi... mine had the same problem when I bought it cheap second-hand. I made a spacer out of a washer that slips over the gas stem adapter and so far 100% fire rate. It holds the adapter closer to the cartridge nozzle and opens the valve that releases the gas when the trigger is pulled. Too easy! Good luck.

3rd gear slips AGAIN!

A gear needs replacement.
Most likely the speed change ring.
It's a known defect on these drills.

Clutch slipping on cordless drill. need spare parts to repair.

Are you sure you do not have a tourque adjustment problem. If not I do not believe Makita will want to send you parts, you would have to know what is precisely wrong and by the time you went back and forth you might as well find nearest dealer for repairs and google search for service parts near you + zip code to get your drill fixed.

I need wiring details for makita jig saw 4301bv

I have a little bad news for you. Makita doesn't furnish their wiring schematics online and I checked a couple other sites and nothing but you can call 1-800-4625482 that is their free technical support line and they can get you one.
