Question about Pioneer SD-582HD5 58" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

TV picture goes out after 10 minutes of viewing with popping sound

After using the set for 10 to 20 minutes, I hear poping sound and then light flickring and picture goes out. Or sometimes picture goes out after 20 minutes without a pop sound but red sometime white light flash and goes to blank screen. But power light stays green until I turn the tv off from remote.
After leaving the tv set off for 10 minutes, I can turn the tv back on and picture comes back on. And same cycle can be repated all day.

Any solution to this issue..

It can be a couple things. Something bad on the power board. Or the vertical output circuit. How long ago did you purchase the television. Your best course of action is to have it serviced.
If you need any information or other assistance let me know.

You do not want to turn the TV on in this condition as you may damage other parts.

Most likely it is the overload circuit protection. If you feel so inclined, you can look inside the tv for any capacitors with bubbled tops, or anything else that looks fried.

ONE: Do a hard reset - this will just make sure the power management
system or the protection circuits have not gotten corrupted. Unplug
the line cord for 4 hours. That will reset all the internal codes to
    factory defaults.

TWO: Just try the whacking test (it is a common problem in big sets,
    especially). Whack the set with your fist in some strategic places;
back, top, sides, etc., If you have the back cover off, using a long
wooden (non-conductive) stick, probe around gently to see if you can
find a place that brings it back to life. This testing is for loose
wires, poor connectors, corroded pins, cold solder joints, etc. that my
    be acting up.

THREE: If the above two procedures provide no indications, then the set
has something internally that needs mending. The excessive current
that is causing the protection circuit to go into action could be from
the high voltage section, the vertical or horizontal deflection
amplifiers, the audio amplifier or the main power supplies.
Unfortunately, it is impossible to know without a hands-on diagnostic.
The most common is high voltage generator failures and/or deflection
    amplifier breakdowns.

FOUR: Fortunately, these are common failures, albeit expensive, and
most good big screen techs know how to get at them right away. The
cost will be for a house call and repair labors. Maybe as much as $300
    for repairs, plus or minus.

NOTE: Make sure, if you have a tech come in, they are trained in
working on big screen sets. Lack of experience is the most common
    complaint about house callers.
    Hope this helps,

TV turns on, hear sound but no picture. Bulb isn't coming on. TV goes off after about 2-3 minutes. Bulb was just replaced 5 months ago.

Need the model number of the set and also if any lights on the TV come on or blink when the picture goes out or not.

I bot a used zeinth C32v-23-8 Hd tv and when I pluged it in it makes a poping sound and you can see a light flashing inside and has sound but no picture

Sounds like a High Voltage lead in the set is arcing--What I also remember from this set is there is a tiny blue cap (with back off and looking from rear) to the extreme right side of the main board that burns to a crisp.

That is fairly easy to fix.

Let me know what you find.

I had the same problem, try running the TV on Mute, if it is a bad solder joint the sound can vibrate the solder point and trip the relay, if the TV doesn't trip off with the sound on mute then it is probably the big power transformer's solder connection needs resoldered. sound vibration from those big pioneer speakers may loosen the solder joint over a period of time because the transformer is heavier and bulky and vibrates a lot.

TV Picture Goes Black

I had the same exact problem.
I removed the bulb and cleaned it. There is a small screen at the top of the bulb and it was covered with dust. Once it was cleaned I replaced the bulb and it solved the problem.
