Broke my boyfriend's speakers (but I'm broke, too!)

Hi there. This is a nightmare. I was trying to hear some bad audio (I'm a transcriptionist by trade) so I moved the file over to my boyfriend's computer to use his speakers to boost the volume. Well, I blew one of his speakers. I want to make this right, but I don't have ANY cash on hand to by a complete new set. Is there any way to repair the blown speaker?

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

One Speaker no longer works, its the one that plugs into the other, is it broken for good? or is there a way to take it apart and fix it?

Hi !
Most of the time there isn`t any problem with the speaker but with the cable connecting the 2 speakers .Try to listen some music and move the cable a little and maybe you`ll hear the sound coming out from the dead box .
The cable is not that hard to be replaced but you will need a new cable and a soldering tool, ( or someone who has one )
But the majority of the people are just buying a new set a speakers when one brokes because these are one of the cheapest parts that can broke on a computer...same for the mouse or keyboard , a good specialist can still fix it but it doesn`t worth it if you can afford new ones.

Okay I have a 2008 MacBook and my boyfriend bought me the Bose Companion #2 Speakers and the speakers sound out of phase when I up the volume. It sounds horrible from a different room you can even hear it...

Hi.
I would get an external sound card running on either USB (minimum 2.2) or firewire. I have had problems with mac audio ports. M-audio make a good range and so do ION. You need a stereo 2 in 2 out minimum (no need to overspend unless you plaun on starting a home recording or video project).
I would check to make sure there is no kind of phase switch on the speakers in anyway first though.

Hi,

Either its broke,
or you are missing a driver so you pc can literally control the speaker trough the electrical signals in the electric circuits.
if so look for an 'audio driver' on the net.

Hope this is useful, and greetings,
Olivier.

Sound drivers are not working

Hello there
If you got warranty, use it, of not, try to see if inside contact are not broke or loose.
check inputs, and cables . verify is not in mute on control panel, or bad wire.
good luck

If you can not find a better audio driver, it may be cheaper to take it to Geek Squad. They will install the audio driver for you or atleast tell you which one is the best fit.
