put the battery in other lap and check whether its working or not. You can contact dell support center for further assistance. If the battery is original you will get the warranty and they will replace it.
Laptop batteries normally just last for a few years, depending on usage. If your battery is almost done, it may report a 'full' status, but just have the capacity to feed your laptop for a few minutes.
You may check this by disconnecting current while your laptop is started up. If low battery capacity is the cause, the same will happen within a few minutes.
Laptops normally go in standby on low battery, to avoid data loss.
Easily done! Right click your desktop and choose Properties. Select the Screen Saver tab and at the bottom choose Power. In the Power Schemes drop down box choose Always On and the PC will never turn off. You might also want to disable or set the time higher for your screen saver.
