Am setting up a bose GSX 3-2-1 home theater

I want to connect the cable box to my tv and bose system without any other components..is this possible and if so, how do I do this? I have NO VCR, and want to connect TV, Bose, and cable DVR box only. I got everything set up and watched set-up DVD on Bose but I have sound and NO picture. I did everything it said in the manual (like set the video input on TV to component 1 since I am using component cables instead of composite cables). I am getting the sound of my cable channel, but still just a bluish picture on the TV. I can play DVDs and get a picture, but nothing on cable box. I have tried plugging yellow cables into different connections on cable box, TV and Bose media center, but nothing is working. HELP! What am I doing wrong?

Simplist solution, if the TV has an audio output just run that to the Bose system.
what type of TV are you connecting to?
Is the cable box an HD or digital box?

I am trying to hook by Bose 123 to my Panasonic Vestra 3d tv. I have the cable connected but I am not getting anything

To view a DVD in the Bose system on the TV, connect an HDMI cable (or composite-Yellow, Red, White) to the back of the Bose system (output) and the other end to the input on the back of the TV.

If you have a cable box or satellite and want to get the audio on the Bose system, connect an RCA (white and red) cable to the back of the Bose system (input) and the output on the back of the cable box/TV/satellite.

Switch channels on Bose as needed. Good luck!

Check the input selector on the TV, if you have audio only then it is a cable problem,
that means that cables are not connected in the right way.

When listening to bose 321 system what should the volume of the tv be set at?

OFF. Unless the TV is the original source of what you're watching (antenna). Otherwise, your programming is probably coming from a cable/sat box with all the digital audio goodies, right?

If your TV has a menu for setting the volume out its RCA connections I would recommend you set it to whatever resembles FIXED, so it's volume control won't kill the stereo analog audio going out to the Bose. Then you can turn it off at the TV and listen through the Bose.

For the best multichannel audio you should get it digitally from the original source you're watching on the TV, but NOT from the TV itself.

No color when i play a dvd

What is your connection setup to the TV? Typically you want to connect component video out (Red, Blue Green) to your component in on your TV for the best possible picture or use HDMI if you have the III series.

What system are you using on your TV. NTSC gives no colour picture if displayed on a PAL tv for example!

Bose 321 only plays DVD movies in black and white

This happens because the connections are not pushed in fully. Check the connections are push them fully in, they are very stiff on Bose units.

If that doens't help, try a new cable.

Hook up

The Bose GS can only support component video set-up for the best video definition. This video connection set-up uses three RCA cables to transfer the video signal from an output device (the Bose GS) to an input device (Your TV).

Check if the back of your GS system has a set of video out RCA ports that are titled "Comp Out". You TV should then have a "Comp In" video input RCA ports you can connect to.

Hope this helps.

Bose lifestyle v20 sound but no video

The problem turned out to be the TV itself. Somehow all the a/v and component cable inputs on the back of the TV got disabled. After finding then consulting the TV manual online (the TV is about 8 years old), we found there was a way to reset the TV to its original factory settings. Voila, the a/v and component cable inputs were enabled again, and everything worked correctly afterwards.

Need to know the TV connections. On newer TV's there RCA jack connection or ext speaker connections. Usually the external TV speaker connections hook to the woofer and the rest of the speakers are connected to the woofer. The woofer acts as the sound system for the rest of the speakers. With this method you need to mute the internal TV speakers by a swiich on the TV or internal TV setup menus and select ext speakers.
