Dimension 4550 10 100 Network Problem

I installed 512 mb of extra memory. When I turned on the computer the Cable internet stopped working. The internet works on the rest of the computers. I was told by a rude technician that it might be my network card inside the computer. Does anyone have any suggestions?

No you don't have to install a 64 bit OS. Only if you install over 3 gigs you MUST install a 64 bit operating system. 800MHZ is fine it will just back down to 667MHZ. your 32bit windows OS will see up to 3 gigs (minus graphics card memory). SO 2 gigs will work fine. Install one stick at a time and check in the OS and bios to make sure each stick works. I would say you possibly have a dead ram stick.

Is the video card built into the motherboard? If not you can try replacing just the video card to see if that works. Otherwise I am afraid you may have to replace the motherboard.
