Get an IDE-to-USB adapter ($15 or less). Remove the hard drive from the old computer and hook up the bare drive to the adapter.
Plug the USB cable on the adapter into a new computer and it will detect it as a USB storage device and be able to read and copy from it.

My burner dont work. what can i do to fix the problem

Hi,

1.Make sure you have the software installed correctly (Try Nero, Roxy, LG Burner)
2.If you do, then choose the right options depending what you want to burn (data, music, file, iso)
3.How old is your Burner? If it's really old, Then probably you need to buy a new one.
4. Try www.newegg.com / this website have really affordable DVD-RW sometimes as low as $15.99

Thanks

USB data transfer from old to new computer

You cannot directly link a Windows 98 computer to another computer via USB(without special hardware). The easiest way to do what you are trying to accomplish would be to hook both computers up to a router and share files over a network.

Hi
Im not sure you can transfer over a USB cable with different OS and filesystems. easiast way is to buy a usb harddrive or usbstick copy data to that. or if the old computer have a networkcard to transfer over a crossover cable or true a network Hub/switch..

You cant transfer files from your old computer with Win 95 Using windows easy transfer which is a file transfer software in vista . If you want to transfer files then you have to copy them on a cd or dvd then paste them to your new computer . It will take a lot of time . Call a computer expert and tell him that you want to transfer the file from your old computer . He will do that easily .

Copy files from old computer and transfer to new computer

Although Vista comes with an Easy File Transfer Wizard it is not compatible with Windows 98.

You will need a CD burning program such as Nero Burning Suite or Creative CD Writer or here is a link to a FREE one.

I have a Imation pocket flash drive and I'm trying to copy music files from my old computer (Windows 98) to my flash drive and I keep getting error message "unable to write". Any suggestions?

You need a driver for the flash drive to work in Win98. You can download it here:

http://driverscollection.com/?file_cid=393499707811d1cd9a955402f23 - if your win98 computer is connected to the internet use it to download the file, then your flash drive will work
