Taking laptop to Italy & England

I'm taking my new HP laptop to Italy & England. Do I need a converter to plug it in or just the plug adapters for each country? I was told by someone that the laptop is dual voltage.

You just need a plug adapter kit, the AC adapter is dual voltage and auto sensing.

Plugged in not charging

laptop plugged in not charging:

1. Take the battery out of the laptop & try to turn on the laptop using power adapter only. If the computer turns on, then the battery is defective & needs to be replaced.

2. Make sure the power adapter is not defective. Test the output voltage of the power adapter using a voltmeter. Compare the voltmeter reading to the nominal value written on the adapter or the laptop.

3. Make sure the DC jack is not loose or broken. A loose DC jack will need to be re-soldered. A broken one will need to be replaced.

4. If you have another processor which is compatible with your laptop's model, try swapping processors & test to see if the laptop will work.

5. The power button could be bad

6. The motherboard could be defective & needs to be replaced.

Hp dv7 power supply beeping, wont charge

If the adapter is faulty you need a new one.
Check power adapter's DC plug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltage should be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that is printed on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Is a power converter needed in europe? Or can I just use a plug adapter.

Have a look at the label on the power adapter, if it supports 110 - 240 volts then it will be OK.

Why wont my asus computer power adaoter charge my laptop

Your charger could be burnt out. Does your laptop turn on without the battery and just the mains plugged in .? It could be a internal problem the power jack connector could be busted.

My power cord seems to not be working with this computer. I have tried all the outlets in my house and nothing is charging my laptot.

I'd call HP and request a new power adapter. I've had a few of them go bad before and it's just a short in the cord. Your plug might be loose also...but a good place to start is by calling HP and getting a new cord.

My HP Pavillion PC is new but It show Plugged in, not charging. Why?

Check power adapter’s DC plug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltage should be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that is printed on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced.
The laptop will be under warranty, take it back to the supplier to get it fixed or replaced.

Voltage adapters/transformers necessary for use in Germany and Austria

Hi there.
All you have to get is the plug adapter when you go to the different countries, in most european counties exept UK you will find all the plug adapters are the same which in turn will save you money, buy the plug adapters when you get the country you are going to and take your power supply with you so they know what type of adapter you need, most european adapters are 2 pin.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!
