Pre-boot mode is accessed by powering off the device and touching the left upper corner of the screen, while plugging in the USB cable into the unit with the other end already inserted into the USB port of a PC. Please note that pre-boot mode has a time limit and does not stay on indefinitely.
1. Connect Nuvi3xx to PC vis USB Cable for 7xx to go into mass storage mode. 2. Slide Power Switch to the right (LOCK Position) 3. Click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in system Tray on PC (Lower Right) 4. Click on "Safely remove USB Mass Storage Device - Drives(x:and y:)" x: = mass storage for the 3xx and y: = the SD card if one is installed 5. WAIT for 3xx to Boot UP. 6. After 360 Boots UP slide power switch to center position
Unfortunately, there isn't an easy solution for the Nuvi owner as it requires a custom piece of firmware to flash the unit to make it at least boot. This problem is often caused during a failed firmware and/or map update.
It sounds like a file was corrupted. Sometimes it is better to connect the unit
up to a PC, delete the old map and then proceed to install the new one. There
are so many issues with memory space causing failed downloads and corrupted
If the map file is missing, the unit will boot-up OK, it will just
say "Map data unavailable" but if the map file or associated map files are
corrupted, it can cause the unit to crash. Your PC won't recognize the Nuvi
because you have the reach the main screen before the data communication mode
routines are accessed.
We've had some success in restoring some of these
units by flashing a "fix" firmware in "pre-boot mode" that doesn't try to load
the map or map associated files. This should then allow the unit to boot. Once
the unit boots, Windows will recognize it and then you can copy a map over to it
from the PC. Reboot the unit and then flash it with the standard
Try the following solution bellow . This solution has worked with many people who have a device just like yours .
Try to reset your NUVI , please follow one of these procedures :
1:Turn the Nuvi on.
2:Touch the tools icon on the main screen. The tools icon is represented
by a wrench surrounded by a blue circle.
3:Touch the "Settings" icon which appears as a wrench.
4:Push the "Restore" button at the bottom of the screen. A confirmation
message will appear asking to confirm restoring the Nuvi to factory
settings. Push yes to restore the factory settings
Try this for hard reset .
Turn off Garmin device. Press down on bottom right corner of the
touchscreen [ Don't let go ] , and then power on the GPS unit. You
should be prompted whether do you really want to erase all user data, or
asked if do you really want to start up in maintenance mode. Press
“Yes” to reset (warning: all data will be erased and lost, so backup
before proceeding) or enter maintenance mode.
1. Turn the LMS-330 off 2. Press and hold the ZIN, ZOUT, and PWR buttons 3. Release the three buttons once you see the "warning, do not rely..." message appear
If you get that far, the problem is solved. If you get boot failed again, try installing the latest update which can be downloaded from http://www.lowrance.com/en/Downloads/Product-Software-Updates/
If you still get boot failed, you will need to get the LMS-330 repaired/replaced. You can contact Lowrance support at 800-324-1356 or email them by going to http://www.lowrance.com/en/Support/Product-Support/Contact/
This is the boot screen, Remove the power connection, and reinsert while you press the "Cancel" button at the same time, if done correctly, your Roadmate should continue to boot and enter the user mode.
