Question about Gateway MT3705 Notebook
I recently performed a full system reinstall on my Sony VGN-A130P notebook. Everything went fine except the touchpad and buttons were non-functional and I had to use a USB mouse instead. After two weeks the touchpad and buttons just started working for no apparent reason. After another week they just stopped working again for no apparent reason and haven't worked since. Sony have had me reinstall the drivers and such but it made no difference. The Alps pointing device is listed in Device Manager but with a yellow "!" and when I go into it it says "This device cannot start (Code 10)". Anybody got any ideas? i have a new laptop just like 2months old...working fine but i left for some time without using it only to discover that the touchpad does not work again. i have tried everything but it does not work ..restored to factory setting, installed all the drivers stil no show. Now i cant use my touchpad and it is really frustrating.pls help
Go to Device Manager, right click on yellow !, use windows update to update driver
If that doesn't work, do a complete wipe out and do a clean install of new Operating System.

SOURCE: Touchpad Not Working
If you has been installed the right drivers, it is hardware problem.
Try to use the factory touchpad program for your sony touchpad and see what happen (not only the driver, also the program touchpad software)
