I fixed a Phillips 37" TV that was doing this by re-soldering the wire/pin joints on the button board (side of TV). You have to take the TV apart and have a soldering iron to do this, of course. But it's really not that hard to do.

try programming your tv onto your direct tv if it works, otherwise, try contacting direct tv and see if they can give you a code that will work. or go buy a universal remote that controls your sat and tv
Follow up on No DTV tuner after unplugging it a month for vacation. After I let it set plugged in for about 2-3 days it started working normally again and has been fine ever since. I hope this may help someone else. Genez 6-7-09
ensure the tv is in analogue mode, not dtv and turn it off.
with the remote:
press info then, menu, then mute then power.these buttons need to be pressed sequentially not all at the same time and in quick succession.
a menu will appear on the tv.
navigate to the reset option and press the left arrow key on the remote (or press the enter/ok button)
the tv will reset itself and turn off.
turn the tv back on & it'll re tune all its channels. DTV should be working again.
