I am not too familiar with this unit. However, I would look for any on board fuses or surge protectors. If it still fails to come on then I believe this to be a blown circuit board.

To calibrate your Streetpilot c-Series touch screen, follow these steps:
1. Begin with the unit turned OFF and unplugged from a power source. 2. Power the unit ON, continue to hold the Power button for 1 minute. 3. A screen will display instructing you to Press dot in the lower left corner. 4. Release the Power button and touch the sequence of dots until your unit displays, Calibration complete. 5. This feature lets you select the number of times you want to phone to ring before the answering system answers a call.
1. Make sure your phone is OFF (not in talk mode). 2. Press the MUTE/PROG button to go to the main menu. 3. Press CID/VOL (up or down) button to scroll to HANDSET SETUP. 4. Press MUTE/PROG button to confirm. 5. Press the CID/VOL (up or down) button to scroll to the RING SELECT menu. 6. Press MUTE/PROG button to enter the menu. RING SELECT 3 4 5 6 TS shows in the display. 7. Use the CID/VOL (up or down) button to scroll to the your selection. The default setting is 5. 8. Press the MUTE/PROG button to confirm. You will hear a confirmation tone and the new setting shows in the display.
NOTE: If you select Toll Saver (TS) the unit answers after the 3rd ring if there are NEW messages, OR the unit answers after the 5th ring if there are NO new messages. This allows user to access their answerer from another location and then hang up after 4 rings to save long distance charges.
Try the following to bring the touch screen backto life.
Step 1:
Do a power flee by unplugging the power cord from the rear of the printer and holding down the power button for 30 seconds.
If the above doesn't resolve the concern, then try the step 2.
Step 2:
Perform a Full Reset of the HP Photosmart ,
-Press the On button to turn off the unit. -Disconnect the power cord from the back of the unit. -Disconnect the power cord from the AC outlet. -Connect the power cord to the back of the unit. -Connect the power cord to the AC outlet. -Press the On button to turn on the unit.
If the touch screen has not gone bad,the above troubleshooting steps should resolve the issue.
Ours started doing the same Displaying L on four hob displays. I figured to press the bottom right hob and the minus button at the same time should unlock it.

Sounds like you need to recalibrate the screen. This can be done by following the steps below:
To Calibrate the Touch Screen on a zūmo®:
1. Turn the unit Off and make sure it is not attached to any outside power source. 2. Power the unit On, continue to hold the Power button for 1 minute.
3. A screen will display that says, Press dot in the lower left corner.
4. Release the Power button and touch the sequence of dots until your unit says Calibration complete.

turn off unit, take out cartridge.
hold the hint button, turn unit on.
press A button, touch the stylus on all the cross hairs that appear.
power unit off when done.
power back up.

First of all, are you sure it is the elements and not the controler? To test the elements, lift theplate out of the worktop, change the 2 wires from a good element to that element. put the plate back in it is home and use the good elements touchtronic button to turn on the element. I am willing to wager that it is the control unit and not the elements.
Hi, I have this same machine (I have 2 actually) and I LOVE this machine. There is a reset button underneath the machine - press that and chances are everything will work like normal again. And yes, these machines are repairable. I needed new gears on mine in January - it cost around $120 but it was well worth it. This machine will run forever. I looked at buying a new one and they are cheap plastic and in my opinion not worth it. Good luck!
