I have an early 80's mobile home with an "intertherm gas atmospheric furnace" pilot light is lit but can't get the furnace to "fire". Seems as though the limit control is stuck open. This is the first time attempting to start the furnace this season. Worked fine when we shut it down last spring. I don't seem to be getting any power thru the limit switch. Where can I purchase a replacement?

If your pilot light is lit then I would first check your thermostat. Make sure it is on heat setting and fan is on auto, turn stat up to where it should be calling for heat. If you don't get burner to light remove front cover from thermostat and see if it has a mercury switch, if it does move temperature selector up and down and see if you can see a spark in mercury switch vial. If y ou cannot see a spark remove screws that attach t-stat to base.Remove carefully and disconnect wires that go to r and w terminals on stat base. Temporarily connect these two wires together. This should make burner light if you have power to thermostat. If burner does light disconnect wires and replace thermostat. Also if you have a volt meter check across these two wires and see if you have power there. Should be around 24 volts a.c. If your thermostat has a fan on setting try that. If fan runs you know you have power to furnace The gas valve needs 24 volts to operate and inside the electric control box in furnace there is a transformer to step down 110-120 supply voltage to 24 volts. If transformer is working you should be able to hear a low buzz or humming sound. You can also check across gas valve terminals when t-stat is set for heat, you should read about 24 volts. If you have 24 volts to gas valve and it is not opening then you need to replace gas valve. The main purpose of the limit switches is to turn blower on when temperature in heat exchanger reaches fan on temp, shut off blower after burner shuts off and heat in heat exchanger reaches fan off temperature, and limit if temperature exceedes set point without blower coming on. I hope this helps you. Thanks

Intertherm gas furnace in mobile home..igniter comes on then nothing tries to fire byrners but nothing

by igniter I assume you mean the thermocoupler. are you turning the control button to run after you light the pilot light? Normally when those furnaces quit it is the thermocoupler that has quit. Get a new one and leave it in the furnace compartment as a spare.

Intertherm furnace M1BG wont fire

Make sure the gas valve is turned to the ON position after you had it in PILOT position. Also check the thermostat low voltage wiring @ furnace...jumper the Red & White wires to bypass the thermostat temporarily. Make sure there is 24 volts on you low voltage circuit.

I have an Inter therm mod-055 gas atmospheric furnace Date Code 870825. Had the gas man refill the tank after change over to new tank gas regulator on tank to trailer. This was a gas code requirement...

Sounds like the thermocouple has gone which can happen any time nothing to do with reg change But I would check that pilot is not blocked causing a short pilot .

How do I light the pilot on my InterTherm MGBB 070 furnace? I have tried holding in the pilot switch but have had no success in getting the pilot lit.

Just to make sure you are trying to light the pilot, from the gas valve follow the small diameter pipe (1/8") to the pilot assembly. Where you should be placing your flame is above that point. Now with the gas valve knob turned to the Pilot marking, depress the know into the gas valve. Light the pilot. Check to see if it is lit and remain holding the knob in for 30 to 45 seconds. If the flame goes out as soon as you let out the knob, you will need to replace the thermocouple.

My gas furnace that came with the Mobile Home I just purchased will not ignite the Pilot Lite. All valves from tank open, followed instructions. No Spark

Try lighting all other gas appliances first. On a new setup air in the lines between the tank and the furnace takes time to bleed out before the gas reaches the pilot light.
