I have done a setting on my camera regarding the Format Memory Carand lost all my pictures, what do I need to do to recover them

First of all, do not save any new file to camera's memory card.


Take out memory card, and connect it to computer using a card reader. You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in Windows Explorer.

So what kind of un-recognized format your photos turned into? Are they now RAW format? I guess yes because I met this kind of error on my Canon camera. In your case you should take a try this photo recovery software PhotoRetrieval. It should help you out. If you are Mac user, go to Photo Recovery for Mac.

Just connect your camera (memory card or stick etc) to the computer which has installed this program and start to recover. But just remember - DO NOT write anything back until you get the deleted data back. Best regards.

4: Select the drive which is the memory card. It should be the one that has just connected.
5: Leave the format type as .JPG.
6: Choose a destination for the recovered files.
7: Press ‘Start’.

You should not have performed a low level format on the camera with the card still inserted as all the data is wiped from the camera and the SD card and can be a common occurrence.
You may be able to recover the pictures from the card but you will need data recovery software and a computer that you can put the card directly into.
If you unsure how to recover data then i suggest that you take the card to a reputable computer repair store and ask them to recover the pictures for you.

I'm sorry to say that the card is erased. A format is a complete erase of the memory card. 
However, your pictures aren't necessarily lost. First of all, make sure you don't use the memory card in the camera. As long as you haven't taken any new pictures on the card, you should be able to recover your pictures.
Next, you will need a USB memory card reader that accepts your type of memory card.
Connect the card reader to the PC, then insert the memory card in the memory card reader. Then download this program: http://www.datarescue.com/photorescue/download.htm
This is a program for recovering lost pictures from formatted memory cards. It's a free trial version, that will show you the photos that can be recovered. To do the actual recovery, you will have to buy the program for $29.

Try PC Inspector "Smart Recovery" from the following listing. Select "Intensive" mode from the File/Settings menu. The program may need to run all night in this mode. If this doesn't recover the photos, am afraid then that they're permanently gone.
