Black strip Mark on paper after print

One side of the paper (right side) is showing a black strip all across, after the print. Please advice

    My problem is it prints on the right hand side ONLY where there is print on the page ... i.e. if it has a big line of text to the left...there's that exact same "length" of a black mark on the right....it continues to do that all the way down every FIRST PAGE ONLY -- when I print from my computer. i.e. it only prints on the right when there is something to the left, otherwise it's blank..does that make sense? I have an HP LaserJet 1018 and use Windows Vista. HELP!!!

    I have problem with my aficio 2075. It leaves a black marks on left nad right side of printing paper and quality is bad. It is posiblly to stain printing if you touch printings on paper with your hands. All part have beeen changed two days ago - fusers, thermistor, drum. What could be a problem ?

Ramana is the black stripe just showing up on copies or faxes or does the stripe occur when you are printing from your computer. If the stripe only occurs when copying or faxing then more than likely the scanner glass is dirty. White out liquid on the scanner glass is a common.If it happens when printing fromyour pc, the problem will be in the toner cartridge or the fusing assembly.
Change the cartridge first to see if it goes away. Check the scanner glass, especially the small glass strip on the left side of the scanner or the right side where you place the original paper. These areas should be completely clear and clean of any scratches or smudges.
Last is the fusing assembly. If you tried everything else and theline continues to bother you, the fusing assembly sleve is probably torn. This would have to be replaced. The part number is RM1-0865-040CN.

Leaving a wide black line in right hand side of transaction


Pop open the fax document feeder, and look for a glass strip about 1cm wide, that runs from left to right across the machine.
You will probably see a few spots of dirt, or more commonly, a blob of white liquid paper stuck on the glass, on the side of the machine that corresponds to the black lines on your fax.
Clean this glass strip gently, using a soft cloth dampened with a mild detergent. I often use diluted windex. You may need to scrape liquid paper gently with your fingernail. Close the cover.

Next, put a blank sheet into the feeder and make a copy of the blank page. If you have cleaned it properly, the copy will be blank as well. If you still have a line, align it with the feeder and use this as a guide to show you where the glass may still have some **** stuck on it.

Check in your user manual how to reset the printer to factory default. This should clear up your problem.

Carrier stall


The encoder strip is most likely the problem. Unplug the power from the printer. Open the front cover and move the cartridge carrier to the center. You should see a white ribbon cable, a thin plastic strip and a black belt with teeth.

The thin plastic strip is the encoder strip. It rides in a sensor on the back of the cartridge carrier that you will not be able to see. Reach in with the first finger of either hand and carefully strum the strip as if playing a guitar.

The strip will need to be lowered slightly and brought towards you slightly. Please be careful not to break the strip or your printer will not function. Once you believe the strip is set correctly, plug the power back and try printing the self test.

To self-test the printer, please follow the steps given below:

1. Press the "Menu" button 10 times. It should then read "Maintenance" on the printer's display screen.
2. Press the "Select" button once. You should then see "Cartridges" displayed on the printer screen.
3. Press the "Right Arrow" button 3 times, which then brings you to the "Self-Test" option.
4. Press the "Select" button once. It should print out a sheet of paper with horizontal color and black lines and smaller vertical lines.

The self-test should at least print out a set of either black or color bars, if not both (if you have a printer with both color and black installed simultaneously). Should this test fail, try it again without cartridges installed. If the self-test still fails to take paper in and make sounds like the carrier is moving across the paper, this is a hardware issue, and the printer will require service. If the self-test completes without any cartridges installed, run the self-test again with the color cartridge installed. (If you have both black and color cartridges, after this test, run the test again with just the black cartridge installed.) If you find that either cartridge causes the self-test to fail, please let us know.

If the self-test prints, but has lines or smudges or other print quality issues, please let us know. This includes any print quality issues and we need to know if the problems you have with your black or color are based in the printer, or communications with your computer, or the computer's software.  
If the self-test prints your test bar(s) clearly, the printer hardware is not at fault.

Brought 2 new black color inks for lexmark x8350, perform alignment several times and failed, when i set to print only the color will print where as the black color will not print clearly if it prints it...


Please remove the cartridges from the printer. Take a dry lint free paper towel and gently wipe the contacts on the back of the cartridge (not the bottom from where ink is present). Wipe the contacts inside the printer (on cartridge carrier). Please try to print the self test page.

1. Press the "Copy" button.
2. Press the "Menu" button.

A technique to improve print quality is to try and clean the cartridge nozzles. You can clean the cartridge using the following steps given below:
Click on "Start," go to "All Programs," and down to the Lexmark. Click on the "Solution Center." Next, click on the "Maintenance" tab. Select "Clean to fix horizontal strips." This will produce a printed page.
The colors that you should see here are black, yellow, magenta (a reddish purple) and cyan (a dark sky blue). You should notice the diagonal lines above and below the solid horizontal lines. These diagonal lines should be solid from left to right with no gaps.
If there are gaps in the lines or the print diminishes across the page, you should run the "Clean to fix horizontal strips" page a couple more times to try and clear it up. If you still have gaps at the top and bottom, you should "wick" the cartridges by following the steps given below:
1. Please open the "Solution Center" again and go to the "Maintenance" Tab.
2. Select "Install color/black cartridge" and remove the cartridge (or cartridges) from the printer.
3. Get a damp paper towel.
4. Set the ink cartridge right side up on the damp paper towel so that the ink nozzles are against the towel and hold the cartridge in this position for about 15 seconds.
5. Now wipe the print head (on the bottom where the ink comes out) across in one direction only (left to right) until it looks clean.
6. Next dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure that the ink is flowing.
7. Snap the cartridges back into the printer.
8. On your computer, select "Old Cartridge install."
9. Repeat the "Clean to fix horizontal strips" one more time. If this fails to address the problem, the entire procedure may need repeating.
If you have replaced your ink cartridge with a new one and are continuing to experience difficulties with print quality, please try cleaning and wicking the ink cartridge. If this fails to resolve the issue, the maintenance station may have an excess build-up of ink.
The maintenance station is located inside the printer on the right hand side. This is the same area where the cartridges sit when in the "idle" position. To access the maintenance station: Unplug everything from the back of your printer, open the front cover and look above the steel rod. You should see a conveyor belt with rubber teeth on it, like a fanbelt. On some models, the cartridge access will be very small, but the belt should still be visible. Take the top part of the belt and move it gently to the right.
***Note*** please do not pull outwards on the belt. The cartridges should come over towards the left side of the printer. The maintenance station will be on the right side on the bottom of the printer behind the fixed cover. Clean the area with several damp cotton swabs or damp papertowels until the build up of ink is removed.
Once the maintenance station has been cleaned you should "wick" the cartridges. Remove the cartridge from the printer. Get a clean damp paper towel and lay it on a flat surface. Set the ink cartridge right side up, with the ink nozzles touching the towel and hold in this position for about 15 seconds. Then wipe the nozzles across in one direction only (left to right). Repeat this process, each time using a clean spot on the paper towel, until it looks clean. Dab the cartridge on a dry towel to make sure that the ink is flowing.
After you have wicked the cartridges place them back into the printer, securing them into place. Plug the power back into the printer. Close the cover and click on "Old Cartridge Installed" on the "Control Program" screen. Once the printer has reset, run the "Clean Print Nozzles" page twice. This should resolve the issue.

The scanner is not working properly, not the printer part of the unit.
The LED array is not lighting causing black scanned prints.
Resolder the contacts in the LED array...probaly a cold solder joint.

Black strips when printing


I'm having the same problem, with the black strip printing on the back of each copy i make... Its very annoying. the circlular lil rubber piece that helps the paper feed out of the machine is wet with black ink. theres about 5 lil rubber things that feed the paper out and ONLY one of those seems to be wet with black ink, so everytime i print, it appears on the opposite side of my document. Black mark on right side of paper


You either have some white out or some other dirt on the scanner or some sections of the scanner are bad. Open the area where your originals feed into, and look for about a 1/2 inch wide strip of glass, that is the scanner window. When that gets dirty, or fails, that causes the problem. Most likley dirty, some whiteout or ink on the scan window.

Please remove the cartridges from the printer. Take a dry lint free paper towel and gently wipe the contacts on the back of the cartridge (not the bottom from where ink is present). Wipe the contacts inside the printer (on cartridge carrier). Please try to print the self test page.
