Hi jime;
what operating system are you using? is it XP? what recent changes did you do to your pc? software or hardware installed?

open up your pc and re-seat your RAM. and see if you can boot up. Or upon booting, tap F8 and select Last Known Good Configuration.

Start up problem.need to turn on and off many times.after turn on run for a while ,blue sreen appears ,then everything goes off

Try pressing F8 repeatedly on startup and at the options screen, if you get the choice, choose repair my computer. If not, choose safe mode. This loads only the basic drivers and files, so if the machine starts in safe mode, there is probably an issue with a driver or a corrupt registry file. If you have the recovery disc, you can try booting it from the CD drive and do a startup repair. Choose language settings and then choose repair your computer.

Boots up but goes to the xp screen and then shuts down and restarts. what do i do?

You will need your XP CD to run a Repair install.

1. Boot the computer using the XP CD. You may need to change the boot order in the system BIOS so the CD boots before the hard drive. Check your system documentation for steps to access the BIOS and change the boot order.
2. When you see the "Welcome To Setup" screen, you will need to press enter to setup Windows XP.
3. To setup Windows XP now and Repair Install, press ENTER. DO NOT choose "To repair a Windows XP installation using the Recovery Console, press R".
4. Accept the License Agreement and Windows will search for existing Windows installations.
5. Select the XP installation you want to repair from the list and press R to start the repair. If Repair is not one of the options, END setup. After the reboot read the fix at the end of this post.
6. Setup will copy the necessary files to the hard drive and reboot. Do not press any key to boot from CD when the message appears. Setup will continue as if it were doing a clean install, but your applications and settings will remain intact.

If you don't have an option to repair, try this:

1. Boot with XP CD.
2. Press R to load the Recovery Console.
3. Login to the Recovery Console using your Admin password if needed.
4. Type bootcfg
5. This should fix any boot.ini errors causing setup not to see the XP installation.
6. Try the repair install again.

If the Repair is still not an option, try the following:

1. Boot with XP CD.
2. Press R to load the Recovery Console.
3. Login to the Recovery Console using your Admin password if needed.
4. If the CD letter is K: give these commands

* copy K:\i386\ntldr C:\
* copy K:\i386\ntdetect.com C:\

While still in the Recovery Console, try this as well:

1. Type: attrib -h -r -s C:\boot.ini del C:\boot.ini
2. Type: BootCfg /Rebuild
3. Now Restart and try the Repair Install again.

Black screen with cursor on the left upper corner blinking, does not load windows

1. Boot from the Windows install disk that came with computer
2. After choosing your language, choose the "Repair your computer" option on the "install now" screen
3. Optional step: if you need special drivers to access your hard drives (SCSI, etc), follow the "load drivers" onscreen instructions to read them from an external source.
4. When prompted, choose the "System restore" option
5. Choose one of the previous restore points (I chose the second one down on mine just to be sure)
6. The system will roll back installs to that restore point; reboot only when prompted

I hope this is helpful to you.

When It goes to loading screen it restarts

It is becasue of your computer is not properly shut down and so your harddisk has some bed indexing of memory location.
For that you need winxp disk or recovery disk.
Then boot your computer with that disk .
You have to set first boot device as your cd or dvd rom.;
For that when you power up press F1 or F2 or "del" key to enter in bios .
Then go to boot option then sewt first boot device as your cd or dvd rom.
then save settings then put winxp or recovery disk in rom.
Then follow the procedure .
Then enter in recovery console then type in prompt "chkdsk /r"
then it fix error on harddisk.
Sometimes this command fix eror and then after restart windows load normally but sometimes need to repair windows.
So after check this if still face issue just chose "r" when it finds your previous version of windows then it recovers your windows.

Let me know if you need more assistanse.
Thanks.

Windows xp will not load on my computer....

It could be your hard drive problem. Which I called it, "Crash." I would suggest you try to format the hard drive and reload the operation system with your installation CD.

Booting problem

You may have to boot from a CD and make a repair.
Once logged in the CD, choose repair option (Recovery Console), and type these three commands:
1) fixmbr (wait til it finishes)
2) fixboot (wait...)
3) CHKDSK (this will take longer than the previous two.
Your laptop may now boot normally. I think your laptop doesn't have an internal CD-ROM so you may use an external USB CD.

OS does not work in pc

The Windows 98 option seems to be DOS-only. You could try typing WIN or WINDOWS at that C:\> prompt.

For Windows XP, you can try a few things:

1. Boot into Windows XP, but hit F8 BEFORE the splash screen (with the scrolling bar) appears. You will get a menu. Try Start with last known good configuration. See if it boots. If not, repeat, but choose Safe Mode. If it will not boot in Safe Mode, you have a more serious problem. Continue to 2....

2. Insert your Windows XP CD in the CD-ROM drive (you need to have your BIOS set to boot from CD first, or look at the POST screen for an option that lets you select boot device). If it asks, press a key to boot from CD. Let it load. First off, try pressing R to go into the recovery console. Follow the instructions. When it asks you which Windows you want to log on to, choose the appropriate one. When it asks for a password, try just pressing Enter (return). If that works, you will get a prompt similar to the Windows 98 screen. Here, try the following:

CHKDSK /r
(this will take a while - just leave it. Note that you may see it restart the % count up to 5 times. You'll get a report the prompt again when it is finished. Hopefully it says it repaired one or more errors)

FIXBOOT
(say Y to the question)

Now reboot. If you get the menu screen again, don't choose safe mode or last good configuration, choose Start Windows normally.

If this doesn't work, you either have a badly damaged Windows install or a hardware fault. You could try booting into the Windows CD and doing a repair install. Where you pressed R before, press ENTER. Follow the on-screen instructions - you want to do a repair install.

When logging into windows vista, screen says locked. Once I type password in the desk top appears briefly and then goes back to login screen

Boot up your PC then when the bios screen disappears press F8 (to give you menu options like safe mode) one of these options is a vista repair option.....choose that and your pc should boot into windows properly....I believe this is a corrupt winlogon.exe....
