Question about Philips 50PFP5332D 50 in. Plasma Television

1 Answer

42PF5321D/37 had the red led 4 blink no picture problem. I went to the phillips website and found athe latest firmware that stated it fixed that problem. It did, now it still has a black screen only the led is now GREEN AND BLINKS 4 TIMES, LOL. QUESTION, DO YOU REALLY THINK REPLACING THE ssb WILL WORK (costs $490.00). I am a computer tech, I openeded it up. when power is applied the 2 green leds on the PS board light up, 2 green leds on the ssb light up and 2 micro leds on the logic board light up, 5 seconds or so later both green leds on the PS board go out and te left micro led of the 2 on the Logic board goes out, then the 2 leds on the ssb stay on. also the green led on the front of the set stays on (green) and no blinks now, unles of course I short the SDM jumber pad on the SSB board and input a code from the remote control, then it ges back to blinks once, then 4 times, oveer and over again. Thanks for any advice and you time. my email address is heavenreaper2004@yahoo.com.

OK, when I am watching the boards in the back, I plug in the unit to power. All the leds come on, ie..the power board, the logic board (with the 1 solid and 1 blinking led next to each other, top right of board), and the 1 (lower) led on the ssb. 10 seconds later all the leds shut off (Relays click) then 2 leds instead of 1 on the SSB lights up and stays on. Does this still sound like the SSB to you Lawrence1974?, (When i plug in the set, VS reads on a DCV scale of 20 volts - .11 then goes up to .18 , then (about 10 seconds later) the relays click and drops to zero) and BTW Thanks for posting your help!

Measure the connector from the logic board to the power supply the second pin from the left it will say Vs_ On if the set has 3.1 volts the problem is the SSB or the logic board. On the logic board there should be a solid led and a flashing led that shown that data id flowing and the problem is the SSB. The SSB is easy to replace just remember what you tokk loose and from where. You probely will save money that way. If the set is in warranty or just out of warranty contact Philips 1-888-744-5477 and see what they can do first.

I have a Philips Plasma tv 42pf5321d/37 with sound but no picture

Thats the great sound of Exploding capacitors on either the power supply board. or another one in there. Now the set is in fault protection. It tried to warn you with the RED blinking LED that there was something amiss by shutting itself down. When you unplugged you reset the error and allowed it to do it again.

Best Regards and Smper Fi

No Picture/No Sound

hello,
the 4 blink error I was assuming was a constant vs intermittent issue which is specific to ssb but based off the new information sounds like there was still an issue with the ssb as the firmware upgrade is specific also to ssb as microprocessor and eeprom are located on that board which stores that information. there is good probablility that the firmware was becoming corrupted with the intermittent issue and after the firmware upgrade must have become further corrupted and disabled the video and audio processing done on that board. it was logical to do the firmware upgrade though and no way to know that doing the upgrade would disable the set. hope this helps dan

Philips 42PF5321D/37 Error Codes

replacing ssb for 4 blink error was correct as error is communication failure specific to micro processor on ssb. getting an alternate error after replacing ssb would suggest either wrong ssb or defective ssb. verify vendor number on ssb tuner on original and new ssb and if same reorder that board and if not order per original board
