Hello
If you can see menu on-screen display, just get into it, surf for blue-back option and turn it OFF first, and see whether there is any grains appears on your screen. If there is no grains, and only a plane raster, your TVs video processor Ic has got damaged, and should need replacement. If there is grains, you just retune it in autotuning option, and allow it to store all the transmitting signals at that time. This process may take two or three minutes to complete, and you should wait till then. Never forget to connect antenna socket to the antenna terminal of your tv.
If you are using set top box, and connected it to the TV through audio-video cable, your TV has no fault, but the set top boxs' video processor has got damaged. OK,

Have a westinghouse lcd tv 50inch model ew50t5kw and would like to know before changing any parts or boards what causes a blue screen no sound or picture

  1. Frank: Verizon. com says try this: Change your VCR's Channel to 3 or 4. Most blue screen issues are caused by the VCR not being set to Channel 3 or 4. If changing the VCR's channel (using the channel buttons on the VCR or from the VCR remote control) did not change your TV screen, go to step 2.
  2. Make sure your TV is not in Video mode. There are three possible ways to change your TV's mode using your TV remote control: 1) Press a Mode button, toggle through the options and select TV, 2) Press a Video button to change your TV's mode from Video to TV or 3) Press Menu, locate Mode or Audio/Video setup and select TV from one of the options. If you are not sure how to change your TV's mode, see your TV's user guide for more information.
  3. Check to make sure your set-top box is plugged in and turned on.
  4. Check to see if other TVs (connected to different outlets) have a blue screen. If they do, contact the Verizon Fiber Solutions Center.

How to change from tv to dvd mode

the difference between tv and av, is that av has no showers on the screen. if you change to av you will notice a blue screen, connect your yellow on vedio output and white/ red on audio out of tv
note- before connecting to a vedio touch a tip of your vedio cable some lines will show on your screen, if touch your audio tip harming noise will sound on your tv. if this two happens then you know that your cables are okey. hold your channel button on your tv, channel will start runing after all rf channels finish, tv will go to av.

No sound

First I will try the following

1. Go into the Setup Screen (via your remote), there are some audio setting. Change it to see it makes a difference. Make sure it is not muted.

2. change from 2 Channel to 6.1/5.1 channels. At the bottom of the remote, there are a bunch of audio setting, play with it and see if it makes a difference.
