All the lights turn on on the hp pavilion dv1000, but the screen remains black. Almost as if there was no power going to the screen. I have tried reseating the RAM and the HD. Problem still remains. ...

Hook a external monitor to the video output on the back of the laptop, if okay! there is a LCD problem with the laptop screen, causes! bad inverter board, or back light. If both show black! causes are Video Graphics Card that is part of the motherboard.

I have a hp pavilion dv7 and the power socket has come a lose i need to know which wire goes where.....

The DC Power Jack that the AC adapter (Charger) plugs into?

Look into the DC Power Jack with a magnifying glass and light you'll see it's a center pin surrounded by a barrel. Barrel has an inside and an outside.

1) Center pin. Gold and buried down in the plastic. Connected to WHITE wire at motherboard connector.

2) Inside barrel has 4 Brass fingers.
Orient the laptop so the LED is at 12 o'clock and you'll see fingers at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock.

These fingers carry the + 19 volt power to computer.
The ones at 6 and 9 o'clock do, Noon and 3 are not connected.
+19 Volt power arrives at motherboard connector on RED wire.

3. Outside barrel has six brass fingers, at 2, 3, 4, 8, 9 and 10 o'clock.
2, 3, and 4 are not used,
2, 8, 9 and 10 are the power return (common, or ground) to computer.
It arrives at motherboard on BLACK wire.

4. LED is connected to YELLOW wire and controlled by computer.
Other side of LED is jumpered to a Black wire,(Ground), outside barrel 8, 9, and 10 o'clock.

I bought a new ac charger for my hp pavillion dv1000 it will not power on

Check and make sure the Voltage on the AC adapter is the exact same as your previous one. Just because the connector fits in the port, doesn't mean it's the right one. Look in your manual to figure out if your AC adapter voltage is correct. If it is, it's possible that you have a dead battery, it happens when surges happen during power outages. If it's so, look on the HP website for a new replacement battery. It should allow you to type in your pavillion model number.

I want the replacement motherboard part number

The part number you posted on the FixYa site is correct for a replacement board. It is actually designed for the DV1300 series but will work iin many DV1000 series notebooks. If you get on E-Bay and put that part number in the search box, you will find many that are for sale and under 120 bucks. Good luck

Power issues on HP DV1000

It is possible you have two dud batteries. Recharageable batteries have a limited life, they have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles.
With the battery removed and only the power supply connected and the laptop powered up, when you touch the connector on the laptop and the laptop does not shut down then the laptop connector is OK.

If you can verify your new battery is OK the the fault could be the power supply adapter, if may not produce enought current to run and charge the battery. Try charging the battery overnight by turning off the laptop and leaving on the mains t charge. Borrow a mains adapter and test it on your computer.

You can also check the BIOS setting for power management, ie. hibernate, low power shut down etc.

No power

Is that little diode located near PL7? If yes It's SMD code looks like "6." and "J." but that J is bigger and lifted up. I have no clue what kind of diode it is but its Diode for sure - I've measure it. Anode is facing to PC146 and cathode to PR153.
Good Luck.
