Ughhh! I had the same problem. I'm sorry to say that you may have ruined the game. Scratches, Food, Other **** gets on them and you fail. It's Ok! Just Call and get support. I'll walk you through steps.
1) Try a different game.
2) Still Not Working? Well then Call the Place You Bought It From.
3) If they give you the **** about contacting Microsoft for support, you may have too.
4) Check with a local Tech First! This will save you some money.
5) If you are still a failure contact Microsoft here https://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/nxe/emailsupport.aspx or 1.800.469.9269
6) If it's still not working, you're screwed. Go die you Failure! >:D
oh i had a problem like this before and in the end i got so sick of it and just bought a new xbox
mine came from someone kicking my xbox accidently and then it wouldnt read newer games eventually it just stopped reading any i would recommend calling microsoft and getting it looked at or just getting a new one
sounds like ure laser is on the way out has the drive been changed at all?
try cleaning the laser with a cleaning disk if still no joy its a new laser by the sound of it might be cheaper to find a repair shop local than sending it to ms
LOL well 9 months later, I'll answer your question. EVERY Xbox360 dvd drive is "married"to it's motherboard. The communication between the drive and motherboard is encrypted with a key (aka- DVD-key) IF you don't flash the dvd-key from the original drive to the replacement then there is no way the Xbox will ever be able to play anythngg other than music and dvds. You NEED the correct key to encrypt/decrypt the 360 games so the motherboard can understand it.
If your xbox box it's new I would take it back and get another one, becase you do probable have problems with your dvd drive and it will keep scratching the games. the laser on the drive doesn't work as hard when playing a music cd than when it plays a game or a dvd.
If you don't want to take it back, then play a couple dvds and if it reads then fine then you could try again. it shiudn't take more than ten second to read a game so if its taking longer just get it out.
it sounds like you play it a lot you need to clean the Len's if your not very good at taking any thing a part then don't do it get your self a cleaning disk from any QD, map-land, pound land, its very cheap it might need doing 4/5 time before you play any games OK try it what do you have to lose.
Your laser/drive have gone bad. I would suggest contacting your local game stores to see if they do console repairs. If not then you would have to buy the drive/laser and install yourself, that or send it in to the dreaded Microsoft.
