Print spooler service is a computer service that loads the print jobs into the printer memory for later printing and it acts as intermediary between a computer and a printer. When the print spooler service is stopped or malfunction, printing is not possible.

Here are the possible reasons :

1. Virus or Malware infection.

2. Spooler service was stop by accident or turn off to manual/disable mode.

3.Faulty installed printer driver that contains error or incompatible with previous printer drivers installed in your computer or system.

4. Print jobs and drawing jobs were corrupted by accident which caused print que lock and resulting print spooler service to crash.

5. Your printer had printing problem issue with pdf files.

To fix this problem, you have to check if the print spooler service had stop.

Here's how to check and fix the print spooler service.

Go to START

Another procedure :

Go to START
Right click on DOS command prompt and run as administrator
You should be in this command directory before you
Type CMD and be sure you are in this directory C:Windows\System32
And if not, type this to change the directory, CHDIR C:Windows\System32
Type NET STOP SPOOLER and message will appear like this

benjz_1.png
Exit and go to C: DRIVE
Choose WINDOWS and click show content if not view all the folder files
Choose SYSTEM32
Choose SPOOL
Choose printer and delete printing jobs if any
Again right click on Command prompts and run as administrator
Type NET START SPOOLER
Exit and restart your printer and your computer
I will works fine right now.

NOTE : You can bypass the C:Drive procedure and just type NET STOP SPOOLER AND NET START SPOOLER in the DOS COMMAND PROMPT if you believe that there are no printing jobs pending.

How can I get my spooler to work again?

Hi,

Operation could not be completed. The print spooler service is not running.

1. Press Window key + R to open the Run dialog Start and type services.msc and click OK.

2. Double-click the Printer Spooler service, and then change the startup type to Automatic. This sets the Spooler service to start automatically when you restart the computer. Click OK.

3. Restart the computer and try to install the printer again.

If that doesn't work, the problem could be related to corrupted printer drivers that are installed on the computer.

Try uninstalling all printer software from the computer reboot and make afresh installaiotn of the drivers. This also include PDF writer or faxing software as well.

Hi...i have a Brother MFC290-c all in one setup. My printer was working fine and then one day it stopped. I have tried to reinstall but says Printer spooler failure whatever that means. I went to look at...

Hi. Printer spooler is not running on your computer or there's a need to erstart the printer spooler services. Please refer to steps below.

If that doesn’t work, the problem could be related to corrupted printer drivers that are installed on the computer. Try uninstalling all printer software from the computer and start from scratch. This may include PDF writer or faxing software as well. Anything listed in the Control Panel under Printers & Faxes I would do away with. If there is any software installed for other printers in Add/Remove Programs I would uninstall it all. Clean out everything possible that might be hanging the Printer Spooler service. Obtain updated software from your printer manufacturers and reinstall only the items you need.

Have a good one!
