Question about Olympus Digital Cameras

1 Answer

I have an Olympus FE280 8mp camera. I need to know if there is a way that I can set the camer to a picture timer. For example: I want to take a picture of my self in full view but I need to set the camera down, get in position, then have the camera go off. Can I do this?

I have olympus camedia 4.0 mega pixel. old camera. need to know how to change the camera photo storage from 18 photos to at least 64 photos storage

Hi, jamesepatton, and welcome to FixYa.
I am going to assume that you are referring to the camera's internal storage, as opposed to the camera's removable storage card.
Obviously, to increase the storage on a removable card, one need only purchase another, higher capacity storage card.
To change the camera's internal storage capacity, one needs to reduce the resolution of the pictures one takes.
Example- your Olympus is capable of taking a 4.0 mega pixel sized picture. This size picture can generate a fairly large data file (after all, pictures- like Word documents- are only data files!) While this is what is normally programmed into the camera at the factory, you are not 'married' to this size. In the "Setting" menu of the camera, there will be an option to change the mega pixel (mp) setting. Try lowering it to the next lower setting (say, 3.0 mp) and shoot until the camera tells you it's full. You may have to try several different mp setting, but eventually you'll land on the right one. It's going to depend a lot on what is in your pictures as well, as different scenes and content can affect file size.
A quick note here: Lowering the mp setting will affect the quality (and/or resolution) of the photo. I have found that for a great majority of the photos that I personally take, a 2.0 mp setting is just fine. I am by no means shooting magazine covers or entering my pictures in contests, I shoot 'em, print 'em and save 'em. Just your basic home pictures.
If resolution/quality is important, I would highly recommend that you save ALL pictures to a removable memory card and leave the camera set on 4.0 mp.
Good luck, and let us know how you go!

How do I change the shooting functions back to default settings?
You can reset the current settings to the camera's default settings by using the RESET function. RESET is available from the camera menu when the shooting mode is set to iAUTO, P, SCN (Scene), Digital Image Stabilization or Movie. Simply press the [MENU] button, press the Left Arrow to select the reset icon (a green arrow bent backward on itself), and then press the [OK] button.
The following table shows the functions that can be reset as well as their default values.
FUNCTION DEFAULT Flash AUTO Exposure Compensation 0.0 Macro OFF Self-timer OFF Image Size (Still images) / Compression 12 M / Normal Image Size (Movies) / Frame Rate QVGA / 15 fps SCN Portrait WB (White Balance) AUTO ISO AUTO _soundrec.bmp (Still picture REC) OFF _soundrec.bmp (Movie REC) ON AF Mode SPOT
but_up.gif What type of memory cards does this model support?
Olympus recommends Olympus-branded xD-Picture Card media for use with this model. In addition, certain microSD and microSDHC cards may be used when inserted into the MASD-1 memory card adapter bundled with this camera.
For detailed information about the proper use of the MASD-1, please review the MASD-1 FAQ. For information on caveats and restrictions to the use of microSD and microSD media with this camera, please review this file.

How do I set the time delay on my olympus stylus 410?

Press down-arrow repeatedly and select the timer (looks like a one-handed clock). Press the shutter button to take the picture. The control lamp lights for about ten seconds, blinks for two, then the camera takes the picture.

Refer to the section "Using the self-timer" in the Reference Manual.

Does this camers display the date on photos?

The FE-220 will not deface your photos by scrawling digits across them. However, the data is stored with each file. Just about any photo viewer should be able to show you this data. Depending on the program and printer, you can print the date on the image, in the margins, or on the back. Refer to the documentation for whatever program you're using to print. If you print directly from the camera, the instructions are in the "Printing pictures" section of the Advanced Manual (page 30 in my copy).

I need help with setting the self timer on the Olympus Camedia c-700 camera. Can't figure how to do it with the menu. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

the self timer usually works like this.
find the self timer setting and set it to 5 or 10 seconds.
then exit the menu and click the button that you normally press to take photo. the self timer will start automatically and the picture will be taken after 5 or 10 seconds (depending on what you set).
note that the self timer will be reset to off after this.

Don't know how to download pictures from an Olympus 2040 zoom camera... which setting should the camer be on, to begin the download?

Your camera power has to be turned on. If your camera does not have a setting on the dial for downloading it may not have to set to anything special. Your computer should pop up a window notifying it found your device. Why not use your card reader and take the card out of the camera?
