HP W22 monitor

Screen goes blank after one second I've changed the capacitors today but, still have the same problem. The new capacitors are the exact brand and size of the old ones. Is there any other repair for this problem that I can do before sending monitor off to HP.

Sounds like you've got the refresh rate set too high. Do you get something onscreen reliably in safe mode?
or
That sounds like an issue with power convertor in the monitor. That is what changes the 110v current from the wall outlet to the voltage the monitor needs for its different components.

The reason it keeps going out is that it is getting too much power and flipping the "circut breaker" (best analogue I can think of) in the monitor.

This is the way how to examine what's wrong with your LCD monitors. After you turned it on and the screen went blank, you have to check that if you can see the image on the screen or not by shining a flashlight into the screen, not directly but find the best angle to the screen and take a look very closely. If you can see the icons or any image, there will be a minor problem. This is because of the lamps inside screen. Some of them were broken and it is very easy to replace. If you cannot see anything on the screen, there'll be some problems with inverter board. If you have soldering tool and want to fix it by yourself, check the caps first. It may cause this problem. Some caps might show leaking or burn spot on the board because of too high temp. If you don't have soldering tool, you better go get a technician to do so. Hope this help!! If anything I can help you with, feel free to let me know.
Thank you,

Your capacitors are damaged. You will need to check the capacitors (the most common fault) or alternately check for internal power supply.
The capacitors can be seen in the internal power module, once you open the case you will those little cylinders. Check for leaks and replace as necessary. Cost will range from 6 to 16 usd.

i just finished repairing a 20 inch acer monitor that had the same issue.... you have to take it apart and examine the power supply side of the monitor. there are capacitors that go bad on that board. you can tell be feeling the tops of them... the feel rounded. replace the capacitors and put it back together and it will work fine

Screen flashes "on" and then goes black on start up...

This is usually a bad capacitor problem. They would need to be replaced, or get a new monitor. Some shops will work on them, but you have to weigh the cost vs buying a new monitor for almost the same price.

There are some websites on repairing your own, but you need to know a bit about soldering and such.

Screen image appears fuzzy, jumpy and broken up into lines.

gardenman13, I would certainly complain to HP about their w22 monitor!! Find out if the units warranty is still valid and can be swapped-out for a REFURBISHED unit. Your w22 shouldn't be hazy, distorted, or flicker for any reason. My best guess is that it (w22) has problems inside with it's "cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamps" and electronic ballast circuit called an INVERTER circuit, which could also cause the main "switch-mode-power-supply" to go a little NUTS upon STARTUP!! FYI you are dealing with a technology similar to the curlie-Q CFL screw-in light bulbs. Their ballast's are called CONVERTERs (ac to ac) and are cheaper. Your lanps are thinner and straight, hung on rear of your LCD panel. I hope this was informative. Please rate this on fixya. 12fixlouie

Monitor going black

HP's are known for bad capacitors in the power supply.
Replacing them is simple if you know how..not so simple if you don't.
Try your local TV repair centre. It should not cost alot to have the capacitors replaced.

Hope it helps =)
