Got computer virus from the Email name "HEY"

It's unlikely that a virus from an email cut your Internet connection. Simply opening an email will not give you a virus. You have to open a link or download a file from the email. If you did neither of those things, then you don't have a virus. If you did either of those things, then run an anti-virus program on your computer.
If you have one already, open it up and activate a Full Scan. If you don't have one, use a different computer to download the .exe of Microsoft Security Essentials, transfer the file to your computer, and then install MSE. Run a Full Scan.
Honestly, though, we need more information.

I don't see my folders on my external hard disk. When I scan the disk for viruses I can see my folders while they are scanned. When I add new folders to it they don't disappear.

Hi,
It is due to virus activity. Some virus make the contents of the drive hidden, that is why user can't see the files. This can be fixed and data would be available to you. However, there are number of steps involved.
It is suggested that go to FOLDER OPTIONS - and select 'SHOW HIDDEN FILES & FOLDERS' and uncheck/ Deselect 'HIDE PROTECTED SYSTEM FILES'.
creativetech_53.jpg
It would show the hidden files/ folders, if the system not infected Otherwise, from the clean/ virus free system you can see your data and copy all the required files/data. Select the required files and right-click and change the properties of the file by un-checking the hidden attribute. Please note that you can not change the properties (hidden attribute of the files) if the files are marked as system files. To change the attribute of such folders you can download and use iReset.
Dolwnload iReset and drag and drop the files/ folders on to its window to fix.

Also, make sure that you have a good antivirus installed and its updated. Scan your system and clean it. As long the the virus is there on you PC, you cannot get it fixed. However, if new folders don't disappear, it is likely that you would be able to fix the issue.

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

I recieve a protected statement from my bank and open it using Adobe Reader but i can not read my bank statement it is displaying like this " XXXXXX"(Thumbnails). How can i access my statement?.

are you sure that the file came from your bank? also banks usually don't send files out of the blue to their customers. most banks have web sites for viewing your bank statements online and you can print your statements from their web site.
it is very possible that another entity has sent you a virus file using your banks name to get to your computer. there are free anti virus software that can clean your computer. you will as need an anti spyware software to heck your computer as well.
the avg anti virus software and spybot search and destroy software work great and the are free. also a safety note please check with your bank before opening unknown e-mails from them. and if you clicked on a link to enter updated or to varify your information then your bank account will taken over by crooks and thieves.
refer to local service tech.

Hi,
Trojan Horse virus is very difficult to detect and remove. Here's a way I know and you don't have to pay for this. Download Malwarebytes. Run a scan and then quarantine all those infected files.

My computer is getting really slow now. what can i do?

Actually sir there are a lot of reason why a computer becomes slow..First because of viruses, secondly your computer is very populated with files and applications and your hardware devices cannot accommodate it. But since you're connecting to the internet i know you have a good antivirus..perhaps i recommend you to try this 1. examine your files and application and choose the files you frequently used and not frequently used. 2. delete unwanted files and applications that you already didn't use so that it will free hard disk space and virtual memory of your computer. 3 go to recycle bin and empty it. freeing hard disk space and virtual memory can help your computer perform much faster...Reply to this post if your problem are not solved..Tnx for using fixya..

Please Help!! my pc is not getting any anti virus installed(i tried kaspersky, eset, avira, bit defender etc),some virus(i don't know the name) is infecting my pc.. it slowed down speed of my...

Yes, this sounds like a serious virus infection.
Try this:
1. Download a free Antivirus program like Avast:
http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Free-Antivirus/3000-2239_4-10019223.html?part=dl-85737&subj=dl&tag=button
2. Your downloaded file will be "setup_av_free.exe".
3. Instead of opening the exe file as is, rename the file first. You can rename a file by selecting it then right click then choose "rename". For example, you can rename the file to "paris.exe" or whatever you want.
4. After renaming the file, you can now run and install it.
Note: Some viruses recognize antivirus programs because they know the installer file names. By renaming the installer file, you are tricking the virus into allowing you to install the antivirus application.

Unable to open word document attachment in e-mail. Shows a square with numbers inside.

If you're seeing a little square with numbers inside (probably 1's and 0's) that file isn't a Word document at all, it is a BINARY file, an executable program, probably a virus or trojan.

Test the file with your anti-virus program, or better yet, simply DELETE it. Since you don't know what program it is, there is no reason to open it and risk damaging your system.

EVERY TIME I TRY TO OPEN A PROGRAM ON MY COMPUTER

Does this happen no matter what kind of file you try to open?
It could be as simple as you don't have the right software installed that can open this kind of file, or it may be an infestation of a virus of some kind. I would need to know more to really say.
Try to open a file that you are positive you have software to open it with. Even just try right clicking on your desktop someplace and choose New --> Text Document. Find the icon on your desktop that you just created, and try to open it. If you can't, then you either have a virus or some serious corruption on your hard disk. My bet would be virus. Do a good thorough virus scan with something like Avast (www.avast.com). I like avast because it has a boot-time scan, which scans your computer after you reboot and before Windows starts.

Good luck! Let me know if I can help any further.
Please leave me a rating if this was helpful!

Problem with windows xp

Sometimes it happens in windows XP that you are not able to open drives on your hard disk. When you double click on the drives icons or right click on the drive>>explore in My computer ,the drive does not open.

This problem is generally caused by most of the viruses which infect windows XP system. They block or restrict your access to any of the drives.

But don’t worry this is not a big trouble it can be fixed easily.

Fix:

Normally when a virus infects a windows system which causes a drive opening problem, it automatically creates a file named autorun.inf in the root directory of each drive.

This autorun.inf file is a read only ,hidden and a system file and the folder option is also disabled by the virus. This is deliberately done by the virus in order to protect itself. autorun.inf initiates all the activities that the virus performs when you try to open any drive.

Very simple . virus create some bad registry if you want to solve this problem then delet this registry

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MountPoints2

delete all drive from here
