The other day our Charter service went down. Television, and wireless as well. There was a problem in the area, Pasadena, CA. After a few hours it was corrected but ever since I haven't been able to turn on our Wii.

My boyfriend and I just tried to play our Wii that was bought late April of 2008 and there is no power whatsoever, not even a light yellow or green. We tried unplugging from surge protector for about 1 min. Then tried other outlets. Played moderately since obtained. Very annoying. :(

My family has been using the console since we got it in April 2008. Since then, it has gone dead - no lights, about 4 to 5 times. I have had to unplug it from AC outlet for a while to get it back going again. Last night, it happened again, so I took out my voltmeter, checked the 12V AC adapter for voltage and it had none. So that tells me that the console is fine and that the trouble is with the AC adapter. After leaving unplugged for 2-3 hours, I plugged it back into an outlet and it registered 12 volts. I then plugged it back into the console and it was working once again. I still have not found a trend, like leaving it plugged in for a certain number of days. The console's input or AC adapter cables hardly see movement and have no signs of it being worn, crimped or abused.

My current theory is that the AC adapter overheats and shuts itself down over a period of time of being plugged into an outlet, regardless of it being used or not. When it does get into the state, it then has to be unplugged from the wall oulet for a while to reset itself.

Here is what you do- 1) Unplug power supply cord from both wall outlet and Wii console. 2) Wait at least 10-15 minutes. 3) Plug back into wall outlet then into console. 4) Light will come on. 5) Resume playing =).

Our wii is about 6 years old. It was working fine yesterday, today it doesnt even act likes it's getting power. No lights come on. Reset doesn't work, switched outlets...nothing happening.

Wii console's are known to over-heat. Try letting it cool down for a day with no power cables plugged in. Try and turn it on the next day, and if it doesn't work, my best guess is that it over-heated to the point of giving up. And when you plug it back in, blow in all the ports and cables just to be safe. If none of this works, it is either broken or needs more expertise than I can give.

Breaker tripped and now my nintendo wii wont turn on

Few things to try:

1. Different Outlet. Plug the console into a different outlet in your residence. If the Wii turns on, the outlet is dead. I would recommend an electrician to fix the outlet.

2. Try a different power adapter. You could purchase another power brick or get one from a friend and use the new one to try and power up the console. Also try in a different outlet (step one) to be sure

3. If none of this works, the console may have just received too much power and burnt out the power supply. Contacting Nintendo. Information below:

My wii will not turn on. Even when we plug it in the light will not turn on... We have tried different plugs... the last time it was used was about 2 weeks ago and it was working fine than... it has not...

hi have you tried doing this
1 remove the mains lead from back of wii, and also unplug from mains leave both ends disconnected then leave it for at least 10 min then after this time plug both ends back in and give it a try, doing this resets the power brick and usually solves the problem.

let me know how you get on or if you still have the problem after trying this

make sure its not plugged into the wall socket and also the back of the wii you need to have both ends free so the power brick can reset itself ok

please rate this solution, thanks

No power to my wii. outlet is good.

Try the Wii in another working outlet just to see if it turns on. If it doesn't then try another AC Adapter in the Wii. If it still doesn't turn on with a new AC Adapter then that means the mainboad is bad inside of the Wii. If the Wii turns on then that means your old AC Adapter is bad.

My wii was working a few days ago then I tried to turn it on today and it will not come on. I tried plugging it in to different outlets but it still will not come on. No lights will come on either.

One of two common possible problems. Either 1) Your AC adapter needs to be reset or 2) Your AC Adapter is bad.

Most power issues with the Wii can be fixed by resetting the AC adapter. You can easily reset the AC adapter by following these steps:
Unplug the Wii AC adapter at both ends (from the back of the Wii system and from the wall outlet or power strip).

The AC adapter must remain unplugged at both ends for a full 2 minutes.

After you've waited 2 minutes, plug the AC adapter into the Wii system and directly into a wall outlet, not a surge protector or power strip. If the power light comes on and stays on, then it appears resetting the AC Adapter worked.

Try to find someone with a Wii.. not that hard everyone has one. See if they will let you use the power cord.
test the cord and if that doesn't you know its inside the Wii.
Then, their are fuses inside the console one of them my have blown. You need a special screw driver.
Hope this will help..

Wii won't power up

Leave the wii power brick unplugged from the wall socket for 15 min then try to plug it back in. This worked for me.
