JVC Marine radio on 2002 Malibu Boat

I have just purchased a 2002 Malibu Boat. It has no radio, but 2 JVC wired remotes one on dash and one in rear. looking at the wiring it has what looks like a 6 pin white plug that connects the 2 remotes and a 6 pin plug that looks like it goes to the radio any ideas? Also will I have to purchase a JVC radio to work with these remotes as well or can I purchase another brand?

Thanks
Ron

I am in need of one of those remotes so if you ever want to sell one let me know.

If it is like my Clarion the 2 remotes connect to a Y connector which go to a single 6 pin connector that comes out of the radio. Both will opperate the radio.

Look for loose or broken wiring connections. Swap front and rear speakers wires at radio and determine if problem is the radio or the speaker system.

This is almost always caused by a poor ground. I would suggest you run your ground wire (larger the better) back right to the negative terminal of the battery.

Hope this is helpful.

I just purchased a uniden solara dsc.I HOOKED IT UP AND THE NOAA WORKS BUT I TRIED TALKING AND NOTHING HAPPENED.(I have a tractor with a radio and neither of us could hear each other).

The Uniden Solara is a MARINE RADIO not a CB. Marine (boat) radios operate in the VHF-Hi range and CB is in the VHF-Lo range. You also need a license to operate a marine radio, or you can identify yourself with the name of your boat but you MUST be in the water.

Radio works on tech bench, not in the boat

Yes, the yellow wire is the switched hot lead - it is typically connected in one way or another to the ignition switch. There is also a smaller gauge red wire that is connected directly to the battery (through a fuse of course). Both of these wires have to have power for the radio to work. Also the black wire has to be connected to a good ground. If all three of these wires are confirmed to be in good order (power where there should be power, ground where there should be ground and no shorts) the radio should at least power up when they are all hooked up and the ignition is on.

2 way radios

Your radio with model number M33GMC09C2AA is a GM300 made for Central Asia, Eastern Europe and Turkey. It is VHF 25 watt with 12.5 channel spacing. It will do frequencies between 146-174 MHz. It should be able to be "read out" by a Motorola dealer. If it has been in a boat, it most likely is programmed with Marine frequencies. If you have another marine radio you may be able to determine the frequency by process of elimination.

The wiring kit for power is readily available for around $18 ea. If your boat has a marine VHF antenna onboard, you will be able to attach the antenna to this radio. It takes a mini-PL connector.
