How to move files to sd card

If you merely want to move photos, there is a pretty good guide at

If you merely want to change where your camera stores photos, where your browser stores downloaded items, where your radio app stores recordings, etc., you change that in your phone and/or app settings.

If you want to move more than that (such as moving videos you have downloaded from the web, pdf files you have downloaded, etc.) there are a variety of apps that will do the trick.

Some Android phones, such as the LG V20, come with a File Manager app already installed that you can use. Simply go to your list of apps and look for File Manager, and you can use that to accomplish the task. If your phone doesn't have a file mgmt app installed, there are several in the Play Store you can download for free. A popular one, and the one that I use since it can also manage your cloud storage, is ES File Explorer.

Once you have that installed, you can then navigate through your files and move what you want to your sd card.

For ES File Explorer, it has a feature rhat gives you quick access to files that it can readily categorize, making the moving of files pretty easy since you dont have to hunt them down on your phone. For some file types, though, you will need to dig into the folders yourself and find the files you want to move.

The steps to move files from your browser download folder would be:

1) when you first open the app you will see two boxes at the top. The one on left is Internal Storage. The one on the right is SD Card. Tap Internal Storage.

2) you will now see lots of folders. To browse the files in your Download folder, tap it.

3) to begin selecting files that you want to move, long press the first one you want to select. The mode will change to Select Mode and you can then Select All (button at top of screen), select additional files by tapping them, or tap a second one that's a distance away from the first one and then tap Select Interval (at top of screen) to select everything between the two you already selected (plus the first two you selected).

4) now that you have items selected that you want to move, tap Cut or Copy at the bottom of the screen (depending on if you want to keep the original), tap the tiny picture of a house in upper left of screen, select SD Card, navigate to where on the sd card you want the files (root directory of card, an existing folder, or create a new folder) and then tap Paste (bottom of screen).

If tou need to move files from another folder, it's kist as straightforward. The hardest part is finding what's stored where. For example, photos you have taken with your phone are normally stored in a folder named DCIM.

Use this tool with caution. Deleting the wrong file can result in apps no longer functioning correctly.

Hope that helps.

I have a BB Bold 9650. I can see pictures I have taken on the phone but not on my laptop or playbook. Both devices say the picture folder is empty. How can I access the pictures?

Check to make sure that the files arn't hidden, and that they are in jpeg or png filestypes. If that doesn't help I don't know sorry

How do I get pictures to come up on computer

\Your computer must have a card reader , if so then when you insert the card into the computer windows will recongnize the card as a removable drive, you can go to my computer to see if the drive is listed. Just click on the drive that windows sees, and then click on file folder containing your pics. If the pics were taken with a camera then look for a folder on the drive called DMIC etc,, your pictures should be there.

I have the cable to download pics to my computer but can't find the software that came with it. Where can i get the software. Thankd

Hi! You may not necessarily need specific software to copy pictures from your phone to your PC.

- Using the USB cable, plug it into the phone and then plug the USB end into your computer.
- Your PC should run and automatically detect the phone and a pop-up window should open asking you what you would like to do with this new hardware.
- Your choices should be something like: "Open with Windows Explorer", "Open using Windows Media Player", "Take no Action", etc.
- Use the windows explorer options and your computer shoudl automatically open the folders contained in your phone.
- In one of the folders, you should find your pictures.
- To copy all of the pictures, click on one of the pictures then hold the CTRL key and press the "A" key on your keyboard (CTRL + A). All the pics should be highlighted now.
- Now using your mouse, copy the pics (right-click, choose copy)
- Navaigate back to your PC and find a folder to save your pictures, then right-click in that folder and choose PASTE.
- Your pics should now be saved on your PC.

If you do not receive a pop-up with actions listed (as mentioned above), then open up "My Computer" and look for the phone listed under the My Computer window. Double-click on it and the folders on your phone should open. Follow the steps above beginning at step 5. Thanks!

Hi, just bought a htc phone and want to put the pic's i've taken with my phone on my computer. How do i do that?

Hi dforte1145,
  • Connect your G1 to your computer via USB
  • Pull down the notification menu and select "USB connected: Select to copy files to/from your computer."
  • "Turn on USB storage"
  • Now open your phone in a folder on your computer
  • You will see a folder that says "DCIM" (This is where your pictures are stored)
  • Open DCIM and view the pictures in the folder "Camera"
  • Drag the photos you want to copy into the "Camera" folder
  • Safely remove your G1 from your computer (Windows: "Safely remove hardware" OSX: Drag G1 icon into the trash bin Linux: Unmount)
Now open the "Gallery" application on your phone all all of your photos should be there!

How do I get my bluetooth to receive from other phones?

First you have to go to your bluetooth option and pair with the phone you want to receive from. Once you are paired with this phone you have to know what you are going to receive i.e. a ringtone/picture/video then you go to your "Media" folder and go to the folder you want what you're receiving to go in. Like if it were a picture you would click your pictures folder. While in the folder you want to receive hit your Blackberry button (to the left of the trackpad) and click "Receive using Bluetooth" your phone is then in receiving mode and the other person can send the file.

I'm not sure why Blackberry makes it so complicated to Bluetooth files--I think it's a deep security measure, but this should work!

My DMC-TZ3 always stores images in haphazard order, not the exact order in which they were taken. Why? And how can I make it store images in chronological order please?

This is from the manual: "File numbers are reset when new folders are created." "New folders are created in the following cases: 1. When pictures are taken to folders containing files numbered 999. 2. When using cards already containing the same folder number (including pictures taken other cameras, etc.) 3. When recording after performing a 'NO. RESET' (found in the setup menu).

Whenever I try to send or receive a picture message my phone says "Memory full. Please delete files in My Stuff." but my memory card still has a ton of space. I've tried resetting it and taking the battery...

The phone automatically stores the images in the phone memory, not the storage card. Set the storage folder for your images to your storage card and you'll be taking pictures again in no time :)
