If you have usb keyboard then remove ur keyboard and restart windows. when it goes on then insert the connector. it will detect that one and may be it start working. or go in properties of computer--->device manager--->usb composite device and uninstall it from the top bar and then install it. it will detect all usb devices including keyboard.

I tray to changing 3 new keyboards but still reads the problem. What's your problem?

OK what type of keyboard are you using Serial or USB? A serial type keyboard has a round end that plugs into the computer's PURPLE port (the Green Port is for the mouse).

A USB type keyboard has a flat end that plugs into one of the computer's usb ports.

If you are using a Serial (Round end) type keyboard, it is not Plug and Play (meaning you cannot unplug it or plug it in while the computer is running or it will not be recognized). You can only plug or unplug the serial keyboard when the computer is off. If you turn the computer off and plug it in good then reboot and you still have a problem then since you have tried 3 different keyboards, maybe the Purple Serial Port where the keyboard plugs into the computer is bad. Try a USB Type Keyboard.

A USB (Flat end) keyboard is Plug and Play. You can unplug and plug it while the computer is on. Also you have the luxury of plugging it into any one of the computer's usb ports.

Keyboard locked

Maybe you keyboard is bad or your keyboard has been hijacked by a virus.

Make sure you keyboard is plugged in good on the back of the computer. If the end of your keyboard that plugs into the computer is Round and it plugs into the green port on the back of the computer you have a PS2 (serial) type of keyboard and you cannot unplug it and expect it to work if windows has already booted up. If you remove this type of keyboard connection, you have to Reboot your machine otherwise the keyboard is locked.

If the end of your keyboard that plugs into the computer is Flat, then you have a USB type of keyboard that goes into the computer's USB Port. This type of keyboard is Plug and Play so you don't have to reboot if you remove it. If you have this type maybe the USB Port you plugged it into does not work, so try plugging into another USB Port.

Try booting in Safe Mode and see if the keyboard performs.
Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn itback on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see SAFEMODE. Take the Safe Mode option and let it boot up. Safe Mode will lookdifferent to you, the screen will be darker and the icons bigger, this isnormal.

download and install it.

Double-click on kkl (kid-key-lock) icon in system tray. Configure mouse & keyboard as per your wish. (my suggestion, dont change any passwords)

To undo it, just type kklquit.

For next use, start kkl (All Programs - kkl), type kklsetup.

Windows also gives you a way to lock keyboard.
Press Windows+U.
Go to "Make the keyboard easier to use"
Check "Turn on filter keys"
Apply
Keyboard is locked. All you get is beeps when you type.

To undo this, double click the new clock-icon in system tray.
Uncheck Filter Keys.

I can't type anything on my keyboard. How do you

I donot think there is a lock key on the keyboard only if you have special one, there is only Num lock which lock only the numbers, but make sure your cable is plugged well from the computer side, disconnect and connected again, restart the computer and try again. it should work.

Thanks for using Fixya

Locked Keyboard

Goto control panel - keyboard. See if U can unlock it from there. Else goto control panel- system and uninstall keyboard, then "action" scan for changes and reinstall the keyboard. Normally the cd's that come with the keyboard have the programs to lock them out. Recommend... don't install the lockout program.
