Uniden 2.4Ghz Cordless Phone usage causes dropped... (by 3 users)

By LiZzIe - usenet poster

I have searched high and low to find out how to get my MN-
700 Wireless-G Base to stop dropping signals when any of
my Uniden 2.4Ghz phones are used.  I tried changing the
channel on the phones - nothing.  I tried changing the
default channel in the Network software that came with the
Wireless unit - nothing ... are there any instructions
that can help me solve this problem as it is becoming
difficult to continue working.   thanks.

I use sbc w/ a 2 wire 1000 HW router for my wireless connection, and it essentially works fine. However when I turn my cordless phone on and off my wireless connection drops for like 30 seconds and then automatically kicks back in. I use a Uniden TRU8885 5.8 GHz Digital Cordless Phone, and my understanding is that these phones should not cause significant interference with most wireless routers. I've tried changing my wireless channel on my router as well with no success. Any suggestions or further changes to try? Or any different routers or cordless phones recommended that might not cause such problems?
Thanks,
ST

I just purchased a 5,8 gig cordless phone and it still knocks my wireless router off line, why? Is there a cordless phone frequency that is available to stop this from happening?

Move the 2.4 Ghz phones as far away as possible from the 802.11
networking hardware.  Also make sure they are not between the router &
any of the wireless clients.

The problem is that the wireless specification for 802.11b & 802.11g
says that the output can only be up to 1 Watt while your phone is most
likely kicking out double or triple digits on the wattage.  That is
where the problem comes from.

Another option is switch to either 900 Mhz of 5.8 Ghz only phones (most
of the 5.8 Ghz phones still use the 2.4 Ghz frequency).

Well, I understand his plight ... The Uniden 2.4GHz phones are
*particularly* nasty, and there's simply no way to avoid being knocked off,
no matter the placement.  My wife, in the kitchen with the basestation, can
knock me off when I'm 4 feet from my MN-700, which is located an easy 40
feet away.
Lost cause ... most of the Uniden 5.8 GHz aren't any better, save the
ones OEM'd by Vtech.

Take care,
Mark

Yeah, that's one of the V-Tech OEM units I mentioned.  ;-)  Take a look,
and you'll find the identical phone as Philips, Motorola and VTech.

I'm not thinking a phone filter is going to work due to the fact they only filter out noise on the phone system and not the wireless transmission. There is no real way to prevent them from reacting to each other. My only recommendation if changing the channel on the router to say 1 or 11 doesn't work, a change to a 5.8ghz phone may be an only option. Placing DSL filters on your phone lines will help if your DSL modem is dropping off, not your wireless router.

I am having a similar problem. I have a GE 25951 5.8Ghz, and a Uniden EXP741 2.4 Ghz phone that interfere with a wireless interent service. I have DSL filters on all phones and it doesn't help at all. I also have a Uniden EXP370 900Mhz phone that doesn't interfere even though the service provider says that is the only phone that can interfere Any suggestions..

I think that's one of the few models they make that doesn't use 2.4 Ghz.
