For any desktop computer using Windows:

The main power cable coming from the Power Supply, is an ATX main power cable.

It is the power cable with the longest connector.
It will either be a 20-pin, or a 24-pin connector.

IF, this is directly towards an eMachine T2893 Desktop PC, it uses an Intel D845GVSR motherboard.

Also note that eMachines Support > Specifications, states the T2893 uses an Intel 845GV motherboard chipset,
( Chipset ),

The plastic front of your desktop computer is the Front Panel.

The rectangular area of pins on the motherboard, that the wires from the Front Panel go to, is the Front Panel header. (Sometimes abbreviated FP1 on the motherboard )

Looking at your motherboard as it's installed in the computer case, the Processor is to the Top, Ram Memory to the Right, and the long white PCI slots to the Bottom.

The Front Panel header is on the Bottom of the motherboard, under the CMOS round battery.

There are two rows of pins.
4 across the top, and 5 across the bottom.
{ Top row 4 pins, space
Bottom row 5 pins }

The Top row of pins are numbered Even.
The Bottom row of pins are numbered Odd.

Starting from the Left side of the header going to the right, on the Top row;
{ Left side of the motherboard going towards the right side of the motherboard }

Pins 2, 4, 6, and 8. There is No pin 10.

Starting from the Left side of the header going to the right, on the Bottom row;
Pins 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9.

A) Pins 1 and 3 are for the HarDDrive activity LED light.
Pin 1 is for the Positive ( + ) wire.
If the harddrive LED light is dim when operating, switch the wires around.

B) Pins 5 and 7 are for a Reset switch. IF a reset switch is used.

C) Pin 9 is for 5 Volt (DC) power. Not used.

D) Pins 2 and 4 are for the Power On LED light.

E) Pins 6 and 8 are for the Power On switch.

To the right, and up, is the BIOS Configuration Jumper Block.
3 pins.
Pin 1 is towards the CMOS battery.

Normal default is the jumper is on Pins 1 and 2.
To configure it is placed on Pins 2 and 3, BUT in a proper method.
Read on Page 37.

You cannot bypass the password security yourself. If you could there would be no point in having password security on all our devices.

Turn off power and reinstall the jumper in normal mode position what can be done?

Your video is shakey and does NOT show where you placed the jumper. The only thing i can think of is that it's the CMOS reset jumper. Look at your motherboard user manual for a drawing/diagram and locate the CMOS jumper. Usually there are 3 pins. Pins 1 and 2 are where you want to place the little plastic thing you were holding in the video.

Is it possible to reset a motherboard?

you can reset motherboard bios & back to its default settings by jumpering the CMOS battery terminal.BE SURE TO TURN OFF PC OR DETTACH POWER CABLE IN DOING THIS STEPS.


all u have to do is take out your cmos battery that is located in your motherboard & jumper the positive & negative terminal of the cmos battery by using a metal like screw.make sure your PC is not turned on or pull out the power cable of the cpu to avoid damage to the motherboard.

some mother boards have pins to reset its motherboard bios. just transfer the jumper to its reset location commonly it has only 3 pins.

I need to reset jumper 1, I forgot my password, where is jumper 1 what does it look like

ok..u don't need reset the jumper..i'll try make it simple..disconnect all input mains power sources.."just remove or pick open the cmos battery (+3v) from the main/mother board and resit/fit it again carefully"..hope it'll work..
always better to hv professional supervision, contact ur system admin/vendor....

No power and I need wiring diagram for jumpers

Hi !

Via VT8237R is a chip that is on your motherboard. It does not determine your motherboard, and this chip is used in many different motherboards and producers of motherboards.

Try to locate the model and producer of your motherboard.

Usually it is written between PCI SLOTS or close to the RAM slots or close to the VGA Slot.

Finally, there is also possible to find a diagram written on the motherboard or close to the pins, with description of +/- pins.

How do I reset cmos?

You need to located the jumper on your motherboard. Usually located near the battery. Just remove the jumper from the current location and place onto the other pins. You should see 3 pins after you remove the jumper. Pins 1 & 2 might of had the jumper on it. You then need to place the jumper on pins 2 & 3. Do this with the power off. Wait a few seconds and them place the jumper back on pins 1 & 2 and restart your computer.

I have a duel core pc system but need to get rid of the bios password to gain access, can anyone help?

Find a diagram of your specific motherboard. Find the jumpers for clearing your bios. There will be a setting that will reset all bios options to default... Make sure you are tampering with the correct jumpers. Playing around with the wrong ones can do serious damage to your motherboard. However, the manufacturers site should have thorough instructions on how to set them. Clear the bios/resetting to defaults should clear any passwords.

Some wiring can be confusing such as with the board we were using. As you can see the wires mainly connect from left to right but the hard drive LED and the Key Lock wires connect from top to bottom but still show where the (-) connection is. This is where you need to pay close attention to where things actually connect to the motherboard as many boards have similar configurations.
