My husband accidentally touched the remote (universal) in some weird way, and now suddenly we only get about 20 channels instead of the 50 or so our cable package includes. We plugged in a different TV -- channels are all there. So it's not the cable. Is there a way to reset this TV to its original settings, even if we don't know what's gone wrong??? It's so weird. The few channels we do get are crowded into the first 20 channel numbers and all jumbled up (not on their usual numbers). The universal remote we are using, in case it matters, is called "One For All". I rest the remote to the factory specs and then re-assigned it to Sharp, but that didn't change the situation. Help. Thanks.
Re: Freak accident, won't show 75% of channels now!
I lost the manual to this set, but last night I found the Menu button on the remote. I pressed it and then clicked SetUp. There was an option for Quick SetUp of Cable/Satellite. I clicked that and it was then able to find all my cable channels again. I still do not know how we messed it up by bumping the remote -- especially when it was turned 90 degrees away from the screen -- but this has restored it. Thanks.

Omni TVs have a child lock that allows parents to prevent children
from watching specific channels or television shows with certain ratings. To
activate or deactivate the controls, you need the four digit pass code. If you
forget the pass code or if the lock gets set accidentally, you can still unlock
the TV. • Use the original
Omni remote control to turn on the TV. You need the original remote to bypass
the child lock. A universal remote won't work. Check the screen. If you see a blank screen with a red key on it,
press the "Function" and "Mute" buttons at the same time.
This unlocks only the channel that is on the TV. All the other channels will
remain locked and the TV will lock again when it is turned off.
• Unlock all of the channels on the TV by
entering "6688," which is the factory reset code. This code resets
the TV to original factory settings. Once this is done, you will have to go
through the initial setup.
• Call Omni technical support at (416)
260-0047. A technician can help you troubleshoot the television as the problem
may not be the child lock. You'll need to know the model number and serial
number of the TV. •Take your television to a TV repair shop if you
are still unable to unlock the TV. The problem may be with the wiring, so the
repairman may have to rewire the TV

I had a paper for a remote... think it is the phillips universal remote.
it said apex tv codes were as follows: 023 and 741
apex audio is: 068
apex dvd is as follows: 044 146 347 545 547 640 644 740 741 840
I wish someone would bring a suit against any of
these manufacturers using the term 'universal.' At best, they are 'multibrand' and, with the
proliferation of 'brands,' there never will be one that can rightfully claim to
be 'universal.' There may never be a code for your brand
available in every remote.
The instructions for searching for a code are pasted below stolen from another site:
steps for programing the rmc10 sentry really big universal remote
1, Manually turn on the device(TV, VCR, etc.) to be controlled. 2. Press and hold the code search button until the red indicator stays on, then release the code search button. 3. Press and quickly release the desired mode button (TV, VCR, ect.). The red indicator blinks off once. 4. Press the Channel up button repeatedly(up to 300 times) until the device to be controlled changes channel. The red indicator blinks off with each button press. If you accidentally overshoot the code required, press channel down button to backtrack through the library until device changes channel. Pressing Channel up changes direction forward again. 5. Press and release Mute to install code.
If you can program a Comcast remote or another universal remote that has an info key, you can get rid of it. I just succeeded in programming my comcast remote thanks to Dave Taylor: http://www.askdavetaylor.com/how_to_program_comcast_cable_remote_control.html
Once the remote is programmed, hit the "info" button and watch your frustration disappear!
I found the solution to this problem . If someone accidentally hits the recall button the display channel will show on the TV screen, To correct this problem hit the Info Button and the display channel will disapear. This works only if you have the standard cable box. I have another TV that uses a dual mode cable box, tried this procedure with analog RCA TV but it didn't work. Don't know if this procedure will work for all display problems, but it worked for me.
