I have same problem - Averatec 3200 runs slow and is very hot. I've had it for 3 or 4 yrs, it has always run very hot, but recently got slower and slower. I've stripped nearly all software and files off it, so there's lots of disk space. I've run several anti-virus, anti-adware, anti-spyware, etc. utilities, no improvement. Suggestions???  Thanks.

The slow reason may be one or more problems acting together. The problem nowadays is that it is very difficult and time consuming to monitor and take care of your Lenovo PC. Even experienced users find it hard to perform such tasks on regular basis because you might need to prepare a huge amount of time and energy to deal with each issue separately.

If you want to fix the problems more efficiently, try the Lenovo speed up program, available here.

Only things that i can think of is that Norton anti virus has been known to be a bit of a system hog, so maybe search for an alternative, otherwise you may have a 32bit version of windows installed, getting a 64 bit version installed might see some increased performance, but otherwise make sure you have limited programs at startup, the more programs you have starting at startup will fill up your RAM and in turn slow down file swappage because the RAM is full

The only thing that is really a let down with your new laptop is the onboard graphics card, but that shouldn't be effecting file swappage, only effecting graphical programs.

however it could be because your running a Video/Webcast as well as a couple of other documents your graphics card might not be able to handle it, sadly you can't upgrade a graphics card in a laptop.

hope this has helped

Your RAM should be sufficient but there may be spyware or malware using it without your knowledge. Download (the free one)and run malwarebytes form here to check your system

You need to give more details...
Following are the common methods to increase computer running speed:
- Delete Windows temp files
- Run disk cleanup and defragmenter, this can help you clean junk files, and speed up opening programs and files. If possible, use a third-party programs rather than the built-in system tools, they take really a long time...
- Clean WIndows registry and run defragmenter. This can reduce registry errors and reduce its size, so as to speed up application response. Here is a free registry defrag tool which I feel quite easy to use.

Computer running very slow

Hello

Ok, firstly, the ram will not extend the life of your laptop, it will only give a slight increase in the process speed of your laptop, depending on how much you add.

You can buy the ram modules you need at any computer hardware store, they will instruct you on the best prices and how to install it. You can also try to buy it online(Ebay) where you will somwtimes get a better deal.

Kind regards
Andrea

Acer Aspire laptop is very slow after installing RAM.

u can reset ur OS again it will refresh ur performance and then ur speed will improve otherwise

2 things that affect the speed of system

Hard Disk make a big difference in Bootup time and program working

Ram is also a factor if u want to install RAM u can buy 2 chips of 512 MB each becoz u know in these laptops they work good if they have RAM on both Slots thats why prev there were 256 mb each on both so get 512 each on both but remember specs shud meet ur old Ram specs or atleast compatible if higher specs than urs u can ask me more on this !

Slow starting

on ccleaner use the until to setup the startup and get rid of somestuff.. also you could use another 512mb of ram.. its pretty cheap now.. check out newegg.com or crucial.com . once a year i back up everything on my computer and Format my OS harddrive and reinstall windows . There is nothing better then a fresh install of windows. that will for sure speed things up until you bogg it down with programs again.. but at least you can start over. good luck , hope this has helped.

Inspiron 1150 Slow startup, slow printing, unable to run 2 programs at once

What Operating System do you run? If it is Windows XP SP2 (Home Edition or professional), here are some things you can do to speed up your system. 1st you should remove all programs that are not required from the start menu. Start > Run > Msconfig > startup tab. Unselect all that are not necessary. Also Right click on my computer > properties > Advanced > Performance settings > Adjust for best performance. This should speed things up a little. I would recommend atleast 512 MB of memory to run Windows XP and its applications decently. You should consider an upgrade.
