If you open the refrig door and the light comes on you have power.
Most likely the defrost timer has stopped working.
The timer is often located inside the refrigerator part of the unit, or under the remove-able face on the bottom of the frig.
You
can manually advance the timer with a screw driver or a coin. The place
that you advance the timer is a round object in the middle of the face
of the timer. You must rotate this part of the timer. The design is
such that you can only rotate the timer in one direction.
If
you rotate this and the compressor motor begin to work then you can be
sure the problem is the timer motor. Sometimes the wire breaks off the
contacts that run the little motor inside the timer.
You can buy a new one and replace this quickly.
Do
replace the timer if rotating the compressor starts. Rotating the timer
is not a fix, it is only a test. The timer is designed to defrost the
refrig Failure to have a defrost cycle is bad.
