I have an F11 code on my kenmore front load washing machine

After years of suffering from random F11 that became a permanent F11, I did the repair as in the video and all is good for 2 years. No more F11. About one load a day (we have kids!)

Another easy to follow guide from jsrock516. I was replacing the Drive Coupling...

The following advice is for replacing the “Agitator Dogs” on Kenmore and Whirlpool TOP LOADER style washing machines. This simple repair can save you a fortune in repair costs as the replacement parts are very inexpensive at a cost of less than $10. The replacement kit part number is 80040. You can order on line at various appliance parts websites, or use this part number and go to your nearest appliance parts retailer.

What are “Agitator Dogs”? These are small plastic pieces (usually 4) that are located under the agitator center cap that grip the agitator and turn it during the wash cycle. They can (and do) wear out dependent upon the use of the washer. If you are in the habit of doing large load sizes frequently, or wash large items such blankets or afghans, this can wear the teeth off and reduce the life of the agitator dogs.

SYMPTOMS REQURING REPLACEMENT: The agitator fails to turn during the wash cycle, or will not turn with a heavy load. The timer will run normally through all cycles, and you will be able to hear the gearcase (transmission) engage and run. The washer will also drain normally. The only indication that something is wrong will be the agitator slipping or not turning at all. The result will be clothes that do not wash properly and will sit on the bottom of the wash tub.

To replace the Agitator Dogs, follow these steps:

  1. Remove the agitator center cap by either pulling straight up or gently placing a flat blade screwdriver into a slot located in the cap.
  2. If the agitator is equipped with an inner cap with a handle, remove this as well by pulling straight up.
  3. Remove the center bolt of the agitator. You will have either a 7/16” hex bolt or a recessed square plastic nut. If you have the square recessed type, use a 3/8” to ½” ratchet adapter to remove.
  4. Remove the agitator by grasping the bottom flange and carefully pulling straight up. Try to keep all the parts assembled while doing this, so do not pull too hard. This will make this repair much easier.
  5. Place your hand over the top of the agitator and separate the upper portion of the agitator from the lower portion and turn the top half over in your hand. The agitator dog assembly will come out in your hand.
  6. With the agitator dog assembly in your hand, lay the rest of the agitator aside. Pay careful attention to how the dogs are installed. Remove the worn dogs and reinstall new ones. It’s that simple.
  7. With all the dogs replaced and the assembly still in your hand, place the upper part of the agitator over the top of it, upside down, ensuring the inner assembly tabs align correctly.
  8. Now keep your hand over the agitator top to hold all the pieces together and turn the entire assembly over (upright position).
  9. Carefully align and reinsert the upper portion of the agitator to the lower portion. Again, making sure the two pieces align correctly.
  10. Place the entire agitator assembly back on the gearcase shaft and reinstall center nut. NOTE: DO NOT over tighten the nut, or the agitator will not spin correctly. Just make the nut snug. Reinstall center cap and inner cap (if equipped).

These instructions should give you the basics on how to perform this repair. Since there are various agitator types in use by Whirlpool and Kenmore, assembly can vary. If you get confused and require further assistance, please refer to my profile at http://www.fixya.com/users/jsrock516 and use the “Ask Me” feature. For excellent diagrams to assist in reassembly you can also refer to the searspartsdirect.com website. Just type in your COMPLETE washer model number and look under the Agitator Parts heading. I hope this information is found to be helpful.

F11 error code

The F11 code means there is an electrical with the Maytag Epic washer. This could involve wiring, fuses or a number of other issues.

Press the "Pause" button twice to stop the current cycle. Press the "Drain" button to remove any excess water. Try to run the washer again. If the F11 code repeats, shut the washer off and contact a service agent
.
The FH error code may be mistaken for the F11 code. The FH code signals a water supply issue and has nothing to do with electrical problems. Check the LCD screen to ensure you read the proper code

F11 & FDL error codes several times per load.

HI. this is a door lock error code.

A Door Lock Error occurs if the door cannot be locked. It will try to lock it 6 times before displaying the error.

Potential Causes

• Door Lock Mechanism broken or removed from the Door
• Check Door Lock/Switch Assembly
• Check the wire harness connections to the Door Lock/Switch Assembly and Central Control Unit (CCU)
• Door Lock/Switch Assembly Failure

Replace failed component.((Which will be a failed door lock assembly in this case))

Our Kenmore Elite 46752 Washing machine is displaying codes "F11"

I'm sorry to hear about your trouble and it may not be good news, I'm afraid. The F11 code is a generic code generated to indicate a communication error between the motor control board and the central control board occurred. The F28 code indicates a problem at the motor control board. The wiring connections have been known to jiggle loose and become corroded, which can trigger these codes, but if removing, cleaning, and reseating the electrical connections doesn't fix the problem you are looking at possibly replacing the control boards. Plural, because there is no real way to tell which control board is causing the problem. I would lean toward the motor control board since the F28 code was generated, but that would still be speculation. Again, sorry for your trouble and I hope this helps. Best wishes.

Kenmore Elite H3 error code F11

F11 is a serial communication error. It is recomended to check connections from the motor control unit to the ccu. We are looking for the blue wires that carry info from component to component. The ccu is on top under the cover positioned in back for older machines and front right for new machines. The mcu, motor control unit is behind the kick panel below the door and is front left usually.Again we want to unplug check for dark or crusty connections if not to carefully reseat the connection and not only the blue serial wires but power as well. Remember to first unplug the machine and while you work the machine can reset, 30 minutes is typical.
