Question about Philips 42PF9630A 42 in. Plasma Television
2 years old and the tv had half a picture acoss the screen and the other half was black. unpluged the tv for 5 minutes and it went away. 2 days later the screen had 3 bands of 6 lines each across the screen. the lines had a sparkling of different colors-red green blue. these lines will appear on all inputs hdmi, s-video etc. any help would be greatly appreciated.
Your symptom is a classic sign of poor connections in the signal path to the panel itself or a to the logic board. If hte set is still under warranty, request warranty service as there are other possibilities as well. If the set is not under warranty and you are comfortable working with the set, try removing the back and reseating all connectors and cables. That may resolve the problem or at least make it more consistant. Report back here with your results and we'll continue with other options if necessary.

If you are correcting the problem by unplugging the tv and then the problem returns I recomend warranty work if you still have a warranty. If you feel comfortable replacing some interior electronics then let me know and we can walk you through the replacement. A hard reset is unplugging the television for 30 minutes to 2 hours.
