Question about HP Compaq Presario V6210US Notebook

3 Answers

Any ideas? So my 6210 has been functioning, albeit slowly but I've been worried it was on its last legs. Today I brought it to work and when I went to turn it on, the lights lit up but there was nothing on the monitor, at all. I tried to reboot it again, I took the battery out and let it sit for a while...none of this was working. Then I came here to see if anyone had any thoughts, and as I flipped my laptop upside down to read the model # so I could make sure I asked on the right forum...all the sudden the screen kicked on and everything booted up. On one hand I'm thrilled, but on the other hand I'm quite concerned about the next time I have to boot up. Any thoughts/suggestions/ideas?

Backup your data, re-flash your bios, and load a flavor of linux like Ubuntu or Mandriva. Also beware of buggy automatic updates.

Hi,
If you removed the battery. Theres a possibility that the battery may have been loose or poorly connected.
I,d suggest ensuring a full battery charge. And always start-booting the computer with the AC Adapter connected.
After doing this, check that the F keys are clean, as you may have a sticky key. Usually F5-F6 Or F7 which would attempt to boot to VGA/LCD or vice-versa. The other possibility is That the RAM Is not seated correctly.

I've been given a new company Samsung P530 laptop - but none of the function buttons work - I can't change the brightness or adjust the volume, turn on/off wi-fi etc etc. I've just tested all...

Try removing the battery wait for 10 mins insert the battery back into the notebook and boot it up again. If it still does not function properly then it is faulty and it will be under warranty.
Take it back to the supplier for a replacement or warranty repair. If you try to fix it yourself you most likelt void your warranty.

Hardware failure of the motherboard - most likely something went wrong with the northbridge.
The repair will cost way more than it's worth, this laptop is effectively dead, time for a new one

My Dell D620 lost audio on the laptop today. Went

Try system restore, if it fails, try to perform 32 bit dell diagnostics on the audio by booting the computer using the resource cd. make sure that the external speakers is disconnected. if still no sound on the diagnostics then you need to replace the internal speakers.
