Question about Samsung LN-S4692D 46 in. LCD HDTV

Image gets pixelated and a black screen flashes

We got the Samsung LN46A550 3 weeks ago and got an HD cable box too. The picture looks clear and nice but the thing that happens is at times, the picture gets pixelated. And at other times, the picture blacks out and returns with the source info. The pixelated image only stays for a split second, and doesn't always fill the whole screen. My theory is that something might be wrong with the cable box (maybe a weak signal strength), but we got the TV and the HD cable box at nearly the same time, so I don't know which one is causing the problem.

Thank you for your help

Dude, better check your cable and also your TV's power management settings. This might also happen due a issue with the HDMI output of the satellite box.

Sounds like you have overheating capacitors on the power supply board of your tv. This is causing voltage fluctuations that account for the image issues. The repair may be as easy as replacing bad capacitors, however most technicians will want to replace the entire power board.

Grainy picture

Greetings israelmaker,

In order to receive true high definition television, you will need a high definition cable box. Basic channels are going to look more grainy and not as clear overall even with an HD box, however you won't be able to view or decode the actual HD channels without a box.

In addtion, what type of cables are you using to hook up your existing box? This can have a substantial impact on the picture you see.

I hope some of this helps.

I had the same problem. Luckilly I had an extended warranty. Repair tech said it blew three main boards inside and to fix it out of pocket would have been more than the screen was worth. Hope this helps.

The aspect ratio (zoom) button on the cable remote had been changed. On Brighthouse the # button toggles through the zoom settings. It's not a tv issue, it's a cable fix.

Picture Flashing

I have a similar problem but my picture flashes black and white and the sound goes at the same. Also sometimes it will flash pink and blue. I've read elsewhere that the issue is a known problem with compatability between Samsung tv's and sky boxes. Apparently the box needs to be replaced but I'm unsure what type of box. I've read perhaps a PACE sky box could fix the problem. I think the best option would be to contact Samsung - that's what I'm going to do.

Arte you using a cable provider? if so you should be able to adjust it to a wide screen or stretch, most cable providers are supposed to apply the settings when installing the box, so that the screen will auto fit your set, otherwise you will get image retention
