Hi kathy,
so since its a 4yr old pc, and its been freezing up,some of the causes would be,
1. Dust Build Up inside your pc - if you haven't open it in a while
2. You might have a lot of programs in your computer already.
3. Some registry problems will cause that.

So... kathy, do you have anyone to assist you in cleaning your pc and reformatting it? i guess, this would be a better way to get your pc back into shape.

by the way, don't use vaccum in your pc, use a blower instead but not a hair blower for this is hot. and don't point the nozzle on your pc for a long time, point at it for 3 seconds then remove, then do it again, then remove...

As much as i wanted to help, im over here in the Philippines.

Oh, and please secure all your installation disks before you do a re-format, you might end up having a problem looking for the drivers and all.

Microsoft applications off computer, computer keeps freezing

Not sure what you are asking for.

Computer freezing can be caused by a number of things. Does freezing occur somewhat randomly? Or only when you use a certain application?
