Can a Onkyo tx sr604 receiver be used as a pre amp?

Yes. You can use the Line Out, or Pre-Amp output into another receiver or amplifier. The receiver or amplifier you use as the amp, will need to have a volume control, as the line output coming from the TX SR604 cannot be varied.

If you have any further questions, please visit my website at audioserviceclinic.com and contact me there.

Thank you.

Connect ps3 just sound to surround sound

PS3 has an "optical out" port. Use an optical coaxial cable (something like this one XO Digital Optical Cable 2m 2 Metre Premium Install Series suitable for... ) to connect this to an optical in port on your surround sound receiver/amplifier.

Go into the sound settings on the PS3 and set it to output dolby digital 5.1 from the optical connection.

Switch your surround amplifier to the appropriate source.

How to connect my JVC Audio/video control receiver digital surround sound system

Hi,
Need to know how to set up a surround sound system? It's fairly easy, with the right equipment. Surround sound gives you that "theater" feel in your own home.
For more information on optimizing the sound of your chosen system visit:
http://www.ehow.com/how_3393_set-surround-sound.html.
To set up a surround sound system go to:
http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/34579/219978.html.

Additionally,Some people prefers a wire diagram to connect their surround sound system. The basic concept to connect any audio system is to follow the path of sound from its origin to its final output stage, either headphones or speakers. There are other basic premises to follow, such as the impedance of the speakers and the output of the amplifier, but the concept is to start with an input and terminate each input to an output somewhere on the amplifier unit.
A wire diagram shows a picture that represents where each of these wires would go in considerably little detail. One example would be that a television set starts with a signal from somewhere, broadcast or cable, and comes out of that antenna and goes into the surround sound amplifier. The sound is processed in some way and the video is output to the television set and the audio is output to the speakers or headphones. Although complicated in textual from, most find that a wire diagram is much easier to follow.

I just purchased a yamaha RX-V767 receiver. I have a polk surround sound speaker system 5.1 that have an impededance of 8 ohms. The receiver has an impedece adjustment knob on it. would it be safe to...

No, you don't want to do that. The Ohm output on the amplifier must match the speakers. Run 8 Ohm speakers on 8 Ohm and run all your speakers on the same impedance (Ohms). Your gonna burn your amplifier up if you run different impedances.

Can i connect 2 sub woofers to my onkyo receiver model tx-sr604 ,and if so how. and is bi wiring of front 2 speakears and surround 2 speakears any good iam using polk audios tsi300 as both front and...

You can hook as many subs as you like since the Onkyo only provides the Pre-Out Line Level to the amp(s) that drive it (them). I run two myself.

Bi-wiring is a personal choice and some swear by it while some of us swear at it in a modern home environment. The premise of bi-wiring is that your amps or crossover networks **** to start with so you have to do all this work-around.

My $.02 is you add complexity, waste speaker wire (which can be expensive if you subscribe to the theory that wire can change the sound other than at the cash register, but don't get me started on that), amplifier resources, and MAYBE you'll think you hear an improvement. Perhaps if you lived in an anechoic labratory you might. I think it's a crock.

http://www.brilliancehifi.co.uk/how-to-bi-wire-speakers.htm

If you look at the second diagram you'll notice the fundamental electrical circuitry of the speaker wire is essentially unchanged except you now have twice as much speaker wire. The same amplifier output posts still feed the same speaker input posts. How can this be electrically different?

You'll rarely find anyone who can produce a measured audible difference with any of the snake-oil schemes to get into your wallet. It's always flowery prose and faith.

Hi, this is not really a problem. I have an Onkyo TX-SR604 receiver. I had polkaudio speakers RTi8 speakers that are no longer working properly. I am looking for recommendations for new speakers that can...

A receiver with the specs...

* "90 watts minimum continuous power per channel, 8 ohm loads, 2 channels driven from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, with a maximum total harmonic distortion of 0.08%"

(*) The only acceptable statement of its power bandwidth in the manual.

... when fed an undistorted audio signal, used properly and not driven abto clipping is not particularly dangerous to any reputable speaker.

Driving any amplifier, even a modest one, into high distortion is more dangerous to any speaker than a high-powered amp pumping pure undistorted power.

Choose any speakers but low efficiency models if you want loud and clean sound.

Sharp LC-42SB45U

You Have to check The owners manuals for both products to see if you are using the correct switching method to use your television with the surround sound. There is usually a setting for each unit that must be set for the correct signal path to the amplifier output to the speakers. The way to test this out is to use the first input on the surround sound unit for the television. Hook- up the output of the sound for the television to first input on the surround sound amplifier.Set the surround sound amplifier to the first setting and test to see if it is working. If still not working check the televisions sound output section in your owners manual and see if you have to set the output to the line out sound and turn off the television speakers output. If this is true make this adjustment with the on screen menu and test the sound again. If still no sound output there may me a problem with the output sound section of you television. You should then check the Sharp website for the frequently asked question and troubleshooting sections to see if similar problems have been posted for this problem and have answers. If all this fails you should contact customer service for both units and ask for technical assistance for your problem. Hope this helps you with your problem.
