Question about Cuisinart DLC-8S Pro Custom Food Processor

1 Answer

I just bought a cuisinart food processor. It seems to be chopping vegetables into a mush. I want some chunkier pieces of vegetables. What am I doing wrong?

If you have a multi-speed processor, the speed setting is too high.
If there are oinly two speed settings, try using a slciing disc instead of the chopping blade. Use a pulse function if available. Cuisinart has hundreds of different food processors, so I am just speaking in generalities here.

How do I clean the lid on my Cuisinart diecast 12 Cup food processorlittle pieces of foods such as chopped garlic and seeds get stuck underneath the seal and there is no way to take them out?

This isn't actually to hard. Take a small straight screwdriver and VERY carefully prize the rubber seal out from around the edges. You can easily remove it then wash dry and put it back in place,

Hi,

Your PowerBlend Duet™ comes with a food processor button. This button is the perfect speed for all your food processing tasks. Always use this speed when using the food processor. You may also use the Pulse button with this function for pulse-chopping.
To use your food processor, make sure that the bowl is assembled properly and the blade or slicing/shredding disc and the cover are locked into place.
When you use the control panel, the LED will light next to each button you press.
Press the On button. For continuous operation, press the Food Processor button. Motor will start if you have followed assembly instructions.
To turn motor off, press the Food Processor button again or the Off button.
For on/off operation, called pulse-chopping or pulsing, press the On button, press the Pulse button, and then press and release the
Food Processor button the desired number of times. Motor runs as long as you hold the Food Processor button down. The motor stops when you release control switch. Try it a few times.
You control the duration and frequency of pulses by the length of time you hold the Food Processor button down and the rate at which you press it. Pulses should be short bursts. Allow enough time between pulses to let food in work bowl fall to bottom.
Always use the Food Processor button for pulse/chopping. Never turn cover back and forth to start and stop processor.

Can you slice almonds on the cuisinart dfp 3 if so how?

It is very difficult, but the machine is capable of it. Use the chopping/mixing blade (S-shaped blade). You would place a small amount - about a small handful - in the workbowl, and pulse the almonds only for about 2 seconds. Even if you want to eventually chop a large quantity, only do about a small handful at a time. It is so difficult, because the almonds will be completely pulverized if you leave it on for even 3-4 seconds. Many people who try chopping almonds, nuts, etc in a food processor discontinue the practice b/c it is so easy to overchop them into dust.

Put in nuts and turned to mush

It is extremely difficult to chop walnuts in a food processor, because they turn to powder within a few seconds. I have chopped them using both a Cuisinart food processor and a Moulinex La Machine. The difficulty arises because even after you have released the on or chop button, the blade continues to spin for a second or two. The Cuisinart DLC-8S is not particularly well-suited for chopping nuts, because the blade is not reversible - there are many Cuisinarts that do have reversible blades - a particularly good one is the Cuisinart DLC-2A, which has both a reversible blade and a Chop function (retails for about $29.99 to 39.99 nowadays).

The only way to have any success whatsoever with the DLC-8S is to press the pulse button and release immediately - only use a small amount of walntus - and then dump the bowl and add a few more at a time.

Grater/slicer doesn't spin on my Cuisinart BFP-703 food processor

The gear box spidle operates the regular s-shaped blade as well as the grating/slicing disc. Does the s-shaped chopping/grinding disc still spin? If not, you can get a new gear box. If it does spin, replace the grating/slicing disc - because the plastic may be cracked, as you say. All of these parts are still available from Cuisinart, so I'm not sure why they weren't any help - I've always been able to order from them.

I can't get the blades on the processor. there is a holder that somehow snaps into the blades before they are put on the processor

The regular chopping blade requires a stem adapter. The other blades require the detachable stem. I would double-check the user manaul to get a visual on it. Cuisinart food processors are great, but they are also the hardest to assemble.
