Sounds like you have a fan motor that has gone bad due to the windings breaking down. It is easy to replace. Comment me back if you have any questions.

Hope this helps you please rate me

Non working blower is usually a bad resistor. Mounted close to the blower.

Not staying cool

sounds like it is either low on Freon or the compressor is going out. The blowing ice cold is an indicator that it may be freezing up because the low Freon. when it stops blowing cold, turn it to fan only mode and see if it gets colder again. If that is the case then the unit is low on freon and freezing up. I know that sounds confusing but that is how AC works. The low freon pressure means the gas is expanding too fast and the air flow cannot take up the cold from the evaporator fast enough. Turning the compressor off and keeping the fan on will alow the room air to take up the cold.

Ack the fan doesn't sound like it's working. When we turn it on I hear an electrical hum, but no fan sounds. Turning the fan up to 3 doesn't change the elecrtical hum, but since I can hear that I assume...

Yes Dan the hum means power is going to the fan motor but the shaft is seized. If the photo on this site depicts your rangehood you may be able to fix it. Turn the power to the unit off. Remove the upper cowling. You should be able to see the fan. Sometimes it only takes a spin of the fan and a bit of spray on lubricant on the shaft to free it up. If it spins freely then turn power on and give it a try. Some fans will be seized tight and no matter what you do they won't spin. This means it's time to get a new fan motor.
Good luck.

The fan is working but the air blowing is not cool. Sounds like the Compressor tries to turn on I hear buzzing or humming for about 3 seconds then it stops. I was near the fuse box and I think some noise...

you may have a bad start capacitor or windings. You really need to call for a service technician in your area to diagnose the problem. Doing it your self can lead to personal injury or cost you a lot more money to fix.

Have a Amana a/c heater central furnace. Model number PGA30R0452A. The a/c part works fine. The heater part does not turn on sometimes. We have to keep turning it on and off to get to work. No matter what...

When you change from cooling to heating the fan will not come on immediately. A solenoid valve is energized (check that it is working) and operates a reverse valve, changing the gas flow in the system. It takes a few minutes for the system to build up sufficient heat and then the fan will come on. The humming sound is very likely coming from the solenoid valve. Make sure the air filters are clean. Obstruction caused by dirty air filter can prevent the air sensor from sensing the return air temperature.

When I turn the unit on the fan does not operate.

either the capacitor is not giving correct voltage and is inop,or the fan motor bearing are out and the motor is inop.

Compressor makes noise, but fans won't run

I'm guessing the hum you hear is the fan motor. After sitting for a time, I've had many that develop like a dead spot in the fan motor. Here's what to try. Shut power off to AC. Get someone up on the roof with about a 2 ft.,long fairly strong stick, or rod , about 1/4 inch or so in diameter. Have them carefully poke it through the openings in the cover and spin the fan blades at the back end of it. May be a little stiff at first, so don't break blades on fan, but get stick under one & lift to spin it, or over it & push it downward. Spin it 2 or 3 times all the way around. Turn power back on. Now stand back & try fan mode again. 99% of the time that will do it, but if not, take screws off around cover on roof & remove cover & give fan a bunch of good spins by hand, then turn power back on & try it. Keep me posted on results please ?

Goodman U-30 Furnace

observe the sequence of operation. stat calls for heat and sends a signal, to furnace. check for 24 volts to common and white wire at furnace.first the forced draft motor starts and should have 120 volts to the plug it attaches to. after forced draft motor starts the pressure or vacuum switch closes should show no 24 volt when checked across terminals. shortly after the ignitor glows and shortly after click the main gas valve opens and main burners fire. shortly after the indoor fan comes on and hot air blows into the ductwork. follow the chain of events to see what doesnt happen and it is a clue to whats broke. maybe start by switching fan switch on stat to on. if fan comes on you have high and low voltage thereby eliminating the stat power and transformer as a problem. if you can see the ignitor look for it to be cracked . look close dont touch any part of it .it is powered by 120 volts when energized from board. dont forget when you take the door off there is no power to the furnace so be prepared to tape the safety switch closed when you are diagnosing.
